Job Overview
We are seeking a Kitting Group Leader to oversee shop-floor materials flow and lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures production lines are continuously supplied by coordinating kitting inventory control and material movement between the warehouse and production areas.
You will supervise hourly employees in a unionized environment serving as the key point of contact for your team and a liaison between production warehouse and supply chain partners. Strong leadership hands-on operational experience and the ability to maintain smooth production flow are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership (Union Environment)
Supervise and support a team of material handlers and kitting staff
Manage daily staffing scheduling training performance and attendance
Address workplace issues in alignment with union agreements
Build a safe accountable and productive team culture
Shop Floor & Materials Coordination
Oversee daily kitting material flow and inventory support for production lines
Ensure timely delivery of materials to prevent production downtime
Coordinate with warehouse teams and buyers for returns replacements and shortages
Ensure proper routing of finished goods and materials across production areas
Inventory & Reporting
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels on the shop floor
Conduct routine inventory audits and stock checks
Generate reports on delivery performance inventory status and team activity
Track attendance coverage and operational performance metrics
Problem Solving & Process Improvement
Resolve material shortages delays damages or discrepancies
Identify root causes of supply chain or kitting disruptions
Improve kitting and materials processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste
Support continuous improvement initiatives across shop-floor operations
Compliance & Administration
Approve timecards vacation requests and coverage schedules
Ensure completion of safety and compliance training for team members
Maintain adherence to union agreements policies and safety standards
Required Qualifications
23 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing warehouse logistics or distribution
Direct experience managing hourly employees in a unionized environment
Hands-on experience with kitting materials handling inventory control or shop-floor coordination
Strong leadership communication and team development skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
Demonstrated stability in prior roles (ideally 2 years per employer or progressive growth)
Preferred Qualifications
Degree or certification in Supply Chain Logistics Operations or related field
Experience in automotive appliance electronics or industrial manufacturing environments
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
Work Environment
On-site manufacturing/shop-floor setting
Exposure to noise temperature changes and physical activity (standing walking lifting)
May require overtime or additional shifts based on production needs
