Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Treatment Supervisor to manage daily operations at one of the most specialized and heavily regulated facilities in the oilfield services industry a dedicated explosive hazardous waste thermal treatment storage and disposal facility located in Fort Stockton TX. This facility serves as the end-of-life destination for spent misfired and expired Class 1 explosive materials including perforating charges generated across oilfield operations this role you will oversee all facility operations maintain regulatory compliance with ATF EPA TCEQ DOT and OSHA supervise direct reports and serve as the onsite Explosive Safety Officer. Approximately 75% of the role is office-based regulatory and compliance work; 25% involves hands-on operational support including forklift operation and site activities. This is a remote isolated facility in the West Texas desert candidates must be comfortable with that environment. Interviews conducted via Microsoft Teams in two rounds. TCC Controlled Technology check required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily facility operations including receipt storage treatment and disposal of Class 1 explosive hazardous waste in compliance with ATF EPA TCEQ DOT and OSHA regulations
- Maintain all regulatory permits licenses and compliance documentation and coordinate with Regulatory Compliance for gathering and submission of required reports to management and regulatory bodies
- Serve as the onsite Explosive Safety Officer ensuring all possessed explosives are authorized users are properly trained and certified inventories are accurate and storage and transport comply with ATF standards
- Supervise local staff to optimize processes maximize efficiency and implement LEAN quality control programs in line with global facility management strategy
- Participate in external and internal regulatory audits and inspections ensure all remedial actions are documented and closed on time and support environmental incident investigations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental waste management required
- Knowledge of explosive materials handling storage and disposal preferred
- Familiarity with EPA TCEQ ATF DOT and OSHA regulatory frameworks required; TSDF experience a plus
- Strong process evaluation and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to work in a remote isolated industrial environment in West Texas
- Forklift operation and small vehicle driving experience preferred
- High school diploma required
- Flexibility and forward-thinking mindset; experience managing direct reports preferred
- Respirator use required; TCC Controlled Technology check required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
