We are seeking an experienced Kitting Group Leader to supervise shop-floor materials flow and lead a team of hourly employees in a unionized manufacturing environment. This role ensures production lines are continuously supplied inventory is accurately managed and daily kitting and distribution activities support production schedules without disruption.
You will serve as the on-shift leader for your area coordinating between production warehouse and supply chain teams to maintain smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership (Union Environment)
Supervise hourly material handlers and kitting staff in a unionized environment
Manage scheduling attendance timekeeping and vacation approvals
Provide training coaching and performance management
Ensure compliance with union agreements and work collaboratively with union representatives
Address workforce issues staffing needs and employee concerns professionally
Shop-Floor Materials & Production Support
Oversee daily kitting materials distribution and inventory control activities
Ensure production lines are fully supplied with required materials
Coordinate material flow between production warehouse and purchasing teams
Support multi-area operations and ensure proper routing of materials and finished goods
Inventory Management
Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits
Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment with warehouse teams
Ensure materials align with production schedules and demand requirements
Maintain inventory accuracy and reduce shortages delays or excess stock
Problem Solving & Operational Support
Resolve supply chain issues including shortages delays damage or discrepancies
Prevent production disruptions through proactive coordination
Monitor team and operational performance against production goals
Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify and implement improvements in kitting and materials flow efficiency
Reduce waste and improve operational productivity
Generate reports on inventory levels delivery performance and staffing coverage
Maintain accurate records for attendance labor tracking and compliance
Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to safety standards and required training completion
Support compliance with company policies and union agreements
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
23 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing warehouse logistics or distribution
Direct experience managing hourly employees in a unionized environment
Hands-on experience with shop-floor materials flow kitting or inventory operations
Experience with scheduling time & attendance and performance management systems
Strong communication leadership and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Degree or certification in Supply Chain Logistics or related field
Experience in kitting/fulfillment inventory auditing or multi-site coordination
Background in large-scale manufacturing or distribution operations
Proven experience driving process improvements or operational efficiency initiatives
