Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of Kokomo IN Reporting to the Engineering Manager this person will be responsible for the development & troubleshooting of processes and production lines related to design material or process. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in lean manufacturing Reliability Centered Maintenance practices CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) development and a business system-based company is a plus.

What youll do:

• Work as a hands-on Engineer developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design material or process.
• Responsible for working directly with the contractor and end user to design build and gain PPAP customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
• Provide technical mechanical input and understanding of maintenance and operations by enhancing total preventative maintenance programs on existing machinery.
• Support the Maintenance team by helping to improve equipment reliability reducing downtime and optimizing maintenance processes. This is in effort to move beyond simply fixing problems and focus on eliminating the root causes of failures.
• Document concepts designs and processes and generate written protocols and reports.
• Determine product specifications evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards to improve or implement manufacturing processes.
• Conduct time and movement studies review and analyze processes and methods and other work measurements activities.
• Interface with the manufacturing team to prototype and build custom solutions for customers.
• Drive New Product Development by managing and contributing to projects. This will include interaction with sales and customers review new product drawings align and verify manufacturing capabilities justify capital spend for necessary tooling or equipment and provide technical support to manufacturing during production.
• Complies with federal state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customers on product service or equipment adherence to requirements; advising customers on needed actions.

What youll bring:

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or closely related field of study
• Three plus years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Aptitude in AutoCAD / SolidWorks
• Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in product and service sales and knowledge of technology.
• Excellent communication presentation skills and analytical skills
• Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
• Organized and analytical able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

Within 3 months youll:

• Complete your Atkore immersion program.

• Gain an understanding of your team.

Within 6 months youll:

• Conduct time studies and recommend changes when needed.
• Develop work instructions for operations and quality checks and design systems for various operations.
• Review customer drawings and provide feedback regarding existing capabilities to meet customer requirements.
• Identify tooling/equipment needs to increase plant capabilities to meet customer needs. Create and submit Capital Expenditure Request (CER) based on financial justification.
• Work with quoting team to provide expected labor hours for new products to be costed.
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering Manager to develop and execute the daily use of the site CMMS.

Within 12 months youll:

• Audit and improve plant floor maintenance programs.
• Manage continuous improvement projects and rectify issues to achieve cost savings quality improvements and improve efficiency.

As of the date of this posting a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $recruiting min. to $recruiting max.. Placement in the range depends on several factors including but not limited to specific competencies relevant education qualifications certifications relevant experience skills seniority performance shift travel requirements and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include but not limited to overtime shift differentials bonuses commissions stock and other incentives.
