Manufacturing Engineer, Final Assembly

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer Final Assembly to lead the development design and installation of production tooling in support of new F-150 program this role you will drive tooling strategy from concept through implementation ensuring all upper body tooling meets stringent quality safety and manufacturing efficiency standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams - including manufacturing engineering quality and program management - to ensure seamless integration of new tooling into production while meeting aggressive program timelines.

• Analysis of Release engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility

• Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies for the U81x (31 Model Year) program

• Interface with plant teams to identify and use existing space for new program tooling and equipment

• Leading Cycle line layout meetings setting up sequence of assembly and part orientation

• Lead in running simulations for tooling and design prove-out

• Understanding out-going quality on product line and applying lessons learned to the new vehicle line

• Write update and maintain program-specific process sheets for assembly of components

• DPA5 checks; raise part/process issues as identified to program; re-perform checks as D&Rs CAD matures through UNV2

• Support establishing virtual build sequence and support virtual build

• P-Release

• Complete design phase Health Chart assessments

• PFMEA creation and updates to support Conformance Letter

• Support Special Characteristics Cascade and Agreement Form (SCCAF) development and sign-off

• Develop program cost analysis (Vignette through PA)

• Define tooling needs including:

  • DC and pneumatic tooling
  • Fixtured tooling and lift assists
  • Ergonomic tooling needs
  • Major equipment and/or automation needs
  • Pallets details and subassembly build-up conveyance
  • Error proofing

• Support cycle line layout development and workstation engineering work stream

• Support simulation development (provide benchmark data for equipment availability MTTR and MTBF)

• Ensure master schedule adherence

• Work with the Facility team to identify needs

• Develop tooling design and build SOWs process RFQs and supplier PO kick-off (re-assign POs to PI team at FDJ)

• Lead pre-FDJ shop buy-offs

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering

• 1 years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment

• Knowledge of lean operating system; familiar with Kaizen principles

• Familiar with manufacturing environment

• RSLogix; RSView and Factory Talk knowledge preferred

• Global Manufacturing Standard (GMS) and Vehicle Operation Structure Standard (VOSS)

• Industry standards NFPA70E NFPA79 ANSI SAE HS-1738 UL 508A

• Implementation of error-proofing

• Problem-solving skills using statistics (Six Sigma Black Belt preferred)

• Ability to lead 8D

• MS Office application competency (Excel Word PowerPoint)

• Project management skills

• Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills

• Ability to work with all levels of personnel for the duration of the program

• Ability to travel at times

Preferred Qualifications:

• Some assembly tooling experience

• Production assembly experience preferred

• Lean manufacturing knowledge a plus

• Supplier project management skills preferred

• CPARS/MEARS/Ariba experience preferred

• Vision systems preferred

• FIS/IIOT reports (running and analyzing) preferred

• Competency in MTTR/MTBF preferred

• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred

• Knowledge of IT systems (AVS EP FIS Networks) preferred

• Systems Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) skills preferred

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $74300-$166200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
