This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role for someone who enjoys being on the production floor working directly with operators and technicians solving problems in real time and implementing practical process a Manufacturing Engineer you will work closely with production quality maintenance and leadership teams to improve manufacturing performance support production needs and develop scalable processes. Success in this role requires a strong presence on the manufacturing floor collaboration with hourly teams and a willingness to understand processes firsthand.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities to SPX your core responsibilities will be:
1. Hands-On Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement
- Work directly with operators technicians and production leaders to identify production challenges and implement process improvements
- Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing processes troubleshooting issues and supporting production teams
- Analyze production data and manufacturing performance to identify opportunities to improve productivity quality throughput and product value
- Conduct time studies line balancing activities and Lean assessments to improve flow and establish production standards
- Lead problem-solving efforts with production teams to eliminate waste improve ergonomics reduce cycle time and optimize processes
- Support cost analysis activities and identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements
2. Manufacturing Engineering & Technical Problem Solving
- Support development and implementation of manufacturing processes equipment assembly methods and production systems
- Partner with operators and technicians to understand process constraints and develop practical solutions that improve safety quality and efficiency
- Investigate process issues and provide hands-on technical support to production teams
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost
- Assist with workstation design assembly cell development manufacturing layouts and material flow improvements
- Support implementation of engineering changes and assess impacts to manufacturing operations
- Promote and maintain safe work practices throughout manufacturing operations
3. Project Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support manufacturing improvement projects from concept through implementation
- Work closely with production quality maintenance supply chain operators and technicians to execute process improvements
- Participate in Kaizen activities and Lean initiatives focused on throughput quality safety and operational performance
- Support startup activities including equipment installation line launches process validation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor implemented changes and verify effectiveness through floor observations and performance data
- Stay current on manufacturing technologies and proactively recommend improvements
What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience Skills Education)
We each bring something to the table and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience & Skills
- 15 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering Process Engineering or related manufacturing roles
- Desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment with strong production floor engagement
- Experience supporting process improvements production optimization initiatives or manufacturing projects
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operators technicians supervisors and cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of manufacturing fundamentals including standard work time studies process flow productivity analysis and line balancing
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into practical actions
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Familiarity with engineering changes manufacturing systems and inventory concepts
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel for analysis and reporting
- Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located QC Canada or other SPX locations such as Charlotte NC or Overland KS.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication and assembly
- Exposure to startup environments new product launches or facility expansions
- Experience applying Lean tools including 5S visual management Kanban setup reduction and waste elimination
- Familiarity with MRP systems production scheduling and supply chain processes
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Exposure to Industry 4.0 automation or digital manufacturing initiatives
Education & Certifications
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Industrial Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred
Travel & Working Environment
- Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located QC Canada or other SPX locations such as Charlotte NC or Overland KS.
