WORK SCHEDULE
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The CENTRAL PROCESSING MANAGER will report to the Director of Perioperative Services. Under general supervision the CPU Manager is responsible for directing the hospitals Central Processing Unit in providing equipment and sterilized instrumentation to the hospital. The Central Processing Manager will also ensure the department will meet or exceed the JCAHO requirements and that the department be maintained in a cost effective manner. Oversee and manage the activities of Central Processing its functions operations and services which include central decontamination and sterile processing of reusable instruments and equipment used throughout the medical center. Establish policies and procedures related to central decontamination and sterilization. Serve as a positive role model to facilitate and improve department performance and activities demonstrating effective communication skills with peers leads staff department managers and guest to create an efficient workflow and team atmosphere.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assure the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies such as the state Department of Health Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
- Design implement and evaluate systems to support patient care. Collaborate and promote team building with all disciplines and departments.
- Mentor coach and develop Central Sterile Technicians.
- Respond promptly to department needs.
- Monitor employee productivity. Provide staffing appropriate for workload and case volume. Track use of instruments and loss prevention efforts.
- Hire supervise counsel discipline and terminate staff in collaboration with the Operative Services in writing reviewing and revising department/service policies and procedures.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist or Materials Management Program with 5 years experience
- Two years experience in a hospital management position Materials Management
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills related to the above tasks.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
