POSITION SUMMARY:
The Infection Prevention Manager carries out strategies and the vision for the infection prevention program. The Infection Prevention Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall management of the development and administration of the Organizational infection prevention program including compliance with accrediting licensing and governing agency expectations policy development staff education program coordination and the evaluation of all aspects of service delivered: ensuring quality programs and patient safety. The Infection Prevention Manager is responsible for the daily operational oversight of the infection prevention program including surveillance prevention and control activities necessary to prevent and control infection as well as managerial oversight of the infection prevention team.

The Infection Prevention Manager establishes and maintains effective working relationships with medical staff organization leaders and other departments and fosters a collaborative environment with department leadership and staff to achieve department goals. Leadership of and/or participation in work groups or committees as required for the success of the infection prevention program. Collaboration with Employee Health related to employee infections/immunizations. Active participation in environmental inspections onboarding continuing education and in-services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelors degree in nursing public health clinical laboratory science epidemiology or a related field. Masters degree preferred.

Required length of experience:

• At least five years in an acute care hospital setting with direct infection prevention experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of NHSN reporting and CDC/HICPAC guidelines.
• Familiarity with DNV or TJC CMS Conditions of Participation OSHA CDC and APIC standards.
• Microsoft Office proficiency especially Excel.
• Experience with infection surveillance software and EMR data extraction is preferred.
• Experience in process improvement employee health and patient safety is preferred.
• Working knowledge of epidemiologic and statistical methods including risk stratification is preferred.

Required licensure certification and/or registry:

• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) at hire or within one year of hire for candidates with prior infection prevention experience.
• Candidates new to infection prevention obtain the Associate Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) within one year of hire with an employer-supported path to CIC within three years.
• Current State of Ohio Registered Nurse licensure preferred not required.
