Job Summary

Job Summary:

Direct and coordinate outside contractors/consultant and internal University departments in the execution of facilities improvement projects.Prepare andassistin the preparation of drawings and cost estimates foruniversityrelated construction projects. Inspect Review and approve work of contractors and other University personnel along with project submittalsdrawingsand other related paperwork/correspondences. Handle statepermittingprocesses from submittal to arrangement of related inspections.

Essential Functions:
35% Coordinate with architects engineers construction managers contractors Universitydepartmentsand various governing agencies to manage the execution of facilities improvement projects.

25% Direct contractors and construction/design professionals to achieve satisfactory performance.Inspect construction sitesto confirmcompliance with contract provisions and applicable codes.

20% Review construction documents to assure compliance withuniversitystandards and specific program of requirementsand designintent.Examine drawings and evaluate specifications prepared by outside consultants to appropriately manage projects and minimize University exposure to extra charges.

10% Review and approve project submittals including shop drawings schedules payapplicationsand other correspondence.

10% Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Position Information:

Education:

Some College Courses or High School Diploma and training in relatedfield.Bachelors degree preferred.

Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:

None.

Experience:
Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in facilities management design and construction administration. Knowledge of

design building codes project budgets and estimating building systemspermittingand construction techniques.Strong communication organizational and computer skills including word processing spreadsheet database and computeraideddrafting software required.Prefer four years ofabove experience.

Leadership:

Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiringterminating disciplining; or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activitiesofa recurring basis.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical effort required involvinglong periodsof standing walking on rough surfacesbendingand/or stooping; periodic lifting of moderately heavy items (over 25 lbs. -- 50 lbs.).

Working Conditions:

Standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise crowded working conditions and/or minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems.Near continuous use (>70% of the time) of a video display terminal.

Shift Available:Monday- Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience.
