Manager, Coding Prof. Billing

Job Summary
- Plans organizes and directs the daily operations of the coding staff to ensure timely and accurate coding of all patient records processed through the department to support reimbursement quality assurance medical staff research and other administrative functions.
- Develops and maintains coding guidelines and monitors relevant reports to ensure timely and accurate coding.
- Generates necessary reports and manages staff training.
- Responsible for hiring staff assigning work and managing the quality and productivity of the team.
- Oversees employee performance audits coding accuracy and ensures compliance.
- Coordinates training and develops educational in-services for staff.
- Educates medical staff on medical record documentation opportunities and coordinates the ordering of coding updates and workbooks.
- Performs related responsibilities as required
- A Bachelor degree with 5 years of progressive medical record coding experience to include supervisory and management experience.
- The combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A coding certificate through a nationally recognized organization (AAPC AHIMA etc.) is required: CCS-P CPC RHIA RHIT CCS CPC-H; advanced knowledge of medical terminology anatomy and physiology billing regulations Medicare & NCCI guidelines insurance coverage limitations and managed care protocols preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
