Job Summary
This position is located at the Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton New York.
The Cemetery Operations Analyst position is responsible for providing the Cemetery Director and district leadership with expert data-driven insights to support decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. The incumbent conducts comprehensive studies involving data collection and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of cemetery operations identify areas for improvement and recommend more efficient procedures and workflows. This includes performing management audits surveys and systematic reviews to ensure policies and practices are effectively implemented. The analyst provides vital staff assistance in developing and implementing procedural operational and organizational changes while also analyzing administrative and field activities workload data resource utilization productivity metrics and workflow processes. Additionally the role involves assisting in budget development equipment planning and facilities condition assessments. The analyst studies and recommends modifications to work methods in response to technological advances legislative changes or program objectives. As part of continuous improvement efforts the incumbent will work toward achieving Lean Green Belt certification to foster a culture of Lean thinking and process improvement. The position also entails collecting organizing and tracking data to support cemetery programs preparing detailed reports and visual presentations and ensuring data accuracy and integrity. The analyst reviews and analyzes reports and statistical information to identify trends and outliers providing actionable recommendations. They develop and automate report generation methods utilize various software tools for data visualization and prepare comprehensive written analyses to inform management decisions ensuring the cemeterys operations are efficient effective and aligned with organizational goals. Work schedule: Required to work Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. May include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day and Veterans Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.

Experience and/or Education as described below:You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level that involved analyzing and managing financial or budget information including monitoring expenditures and obligations projecting future funding needs and preparing cost estimates or financial reports; reviewing maintaining or tracking financial or budget records and preparing related reports spreadsheets or other financial documentation. OR Education: You must have successfully completed a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such education that demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work. Physical Requirements: The employee does sedentary work such as sitting comfortably. There will be walking standing bending carrying of light items. The employee will be expected to perform data capture analysis and interview staff members in the field at their job site and will require standing walking on uneven terrain.
