Job Summary and Responsibilities

LEARNING ABOUT THE PERSON SUPPORTED

  • Builds a positive rapport with people by learning their wants needs and desires
  • Works alongside people supported to ensure they have the opportunity to use their environments as independently as possible
  • Builds or adapts items for people supported to be more independent and/or increase accessibility
  • Repairs and/or purchases approved items to ensure people are safe and comfortable in their environments

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes maintenance requests for repairs and services
  • Purchases approved equipment parts and supplies
  • Maintains and repairs buildings equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Maintains the grounds according to the season
  • Completes preventive maintenance schedules as assigned
  • Assists in planning and completing internal maintenance projects and facility improvements
  • Moves furnishings and related items as requested/assigned
  • Maintains an organized shop and safe working areas
  • Participates in Life Safety Code inspections and ensures all sites are in compliance

INTEGRATION AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT

  • Maintains fleet vehicles to ensure people supported have access to their community
  • Maintains a valid drivers license vehicle insurance and has access to a vehicle

HEALTH SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PERSON SUPPORTED

  • Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment in which to live and work
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF DEPARTMENT

  • Serves as a good steward of company resources relating to maintenance department purchasing care of equipment and assuring appropriate bids/estimates are obtained
  • Uses departments procurement (P) card appropriately

SYSTEM ADVOCACY

  • Works with the interdisciplinary team to ensure building modifications do not infringe upon the rights of people
  • Serve as a personal advocate for people and teach members of the community to treat people we support with dignity and respect through respectful communication and interactions

ONGOING EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Attends orientation mandatory trainings and departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Successfully completes modules and Pathways training as required

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team and responds accordingly to emergency situations across the organization
  • Participates in organizational surveys culture and wellness activities
  • Participates in reviews for accreditation and licensure as requested

Job Requirements

  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Drivers License: ND upon hire and
  • Auto Insurance upon hire
