Position: Maintenance Technician Electrical (Muscatine IA)

Job Overview:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician is an industrial electrical maintenance role responsible for maintaining troubleshooting repairing and improving electrical systems within a heavy manufacturing environment. This position supports critical production equipment including Electric Arc Furnaces Ladle Furnaces Vacuum Degassers and Casting systems.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will use PLCs electrical schematics drives instrumentation and other electrical systems to diagnose equipment issues perform preventative maintenance implement process improvements and support the installation and commissioning of new equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused technically skilled self-motivated and comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.

This is a direct-hire/permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform electrical repair maintenance troubleshooting and technical support for equipment throughout the Electric Arc Furnace Ladle Furnace Vacuum Degasser and Caster departments.
Utilize PLC systems to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and equipment-related issues.
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on electrical and production equipment.
Safely perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with established safety requirements.
Implement software and hardware modifications to improve equipment reliability efficiency and production processes.
Install troubleshoot and commission new electrical equipment associated with capital and improvement projects.
Maintain plant building services including:
o Overhead lighting
o Heat trace circuits
o 120/208V electrical distribution
o 480V electrical distribution
Troubleshoot and maintain electrical control systems motors drives instrumentation and related equipment.
Read interpret and utilize electrical schematics and technical documentation to diagnose and repair equipment.
Support engineering and maintenance projects involving the design installation and commissioning of new equipment and control systems.
Utilize data acquisition and trending systems to assist with equipment troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Maintain a strong focus on electrical safety equipment reliability and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications:

Two-year degree technical certification or equivalent experience in Industrial Electronics Electrical Engineering Technology Electrical Technology or a related field.
Understanding of PLC programming theory.
Understanding of AC and DC digital drive theory.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Computer proficiency including solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety quality and reliability.
Preferred
Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs.
Experience with Allen-Bradley AC and DC drives.
Experience with Allen-Bradley HMI systems.
Experience designing installing and commissioning electrical equipment and control systems.
Familiarity with data acquisition and trending systems such as IBA for troubleshooting and equipment analysis.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E standards.
Experience installing and maintaining 480V three-phase power distribution systems.
Experience performing preventative maintenance on DC motors and low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment.
Experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems including:
Thermocouples
RTDs
Flow measurement
Pressure measurement
420 mA control loops
Experience with computer networking and industrial network switching.
Four-year degree in Industrial Electronics Electrical Engineering Technology Electrical Technology or a related field.

Work Schedule & Position Details:
Position Type: Full-time hourly
Overtime: Eligible
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour swing shifts
Shift Coverage: Days and nights
Weekends: Required as part of the rotating schedule
Work Environment: Heavy manufacturing / industrial production
