Catholic Housing Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of our affordable housing communities. This hands-on role is responsible for building repairs unit turnovers preventive maintenance and maintaining safe clean and functional residential spaces. The Maintenance Technician will coordinate vendors prioritize maintenance activities and support after-hours emergencies.
Depending on experience and assignment the position may also provide direction to other maintenance staff.
Youll work closely with Property Managers and other onsite staff while providing responsive respectful service to residents and helping create a safe and positive living environment.
This position offers a compensation range of:
- Level 1: $23.40 - $32.46 per hour (DOE)

What Youll Do
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs involving plumbing electrical appliances carpentry drywall painting and locks.
- Prepare vacant units for new residents and coordinate timely quality unit turnovers.
- Perform preventive maintenance and monitor building systems and equipment.
- Maintain common areas building exteriors grounds and overall property appearance.
- Respond to urgent maintenance and building emergencies to help prevent damage or safety concerns.
- Track work orders preventive maintenance supplies and other maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with Property Management residents vendors and other staff to address maintenance needs.
- May help schedule work coordinate vendors manage maintenance priorities and provide direction to other maintenance staff.
What Were Looking For
- Maintenance experience in general building maintenance facilities construction or a related field.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn plumbing electrical appliance carpentry painting drywall and lock systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate work-order records.
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and work effectively with residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Valid Washington drivers license insurance reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record.
- For advanced-level assignments: 3 years of maintenance experience experience directing others and experience with preventive maintenance vendors unit turnovers or building systems is preferred.
Technical college training or certificates in general building maintenance plumbing or electrical systems may substitute for applicable experience.
The Work
This is a hands-on position that requires regular movement and physical activity including walking standing climbing ladders kneeling crouching stooping reaching pushing pulling and working in high places. The position may require regularly lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally up to 40 pounds and team lifting heavier items.
The work environment may include exposure to cleaning supplies pest-control chemicals paint dust noise odors temperature fluctuations and potentially infectious materials. The position also involves regular interaction with residents who may be experiencing difficult circumstances frustration or crisis.
