About this position:
This position plans details coordinates and oversees maintenance and special project activities for NorthWestern Energys Hydro Generation facilities in coordination with plant supervision and under the guidance of the Superintendent Power Generation - Hydro Maintenance and Reliability. This position supervises the daily activities of maintenance craft employees to ensure the quality completion of all necessary maintenance activities and large special project scopes primarily in the Great Falls area. The successful candidate will oversee that work is being carried out in a safe and efficient manner abides by the collective bargaining agreement follows area direction and work standards. The position is accountable for advanced planning scheduling quality oversight monitoring forecasting and estimating of projects and maintenance activities. This position will direct maintenance work tasks oversee job and employee performance and overall project work execution by work crews. Receives direction and oversight from the Superintendent Power Generation - Hydro Maintenance and Reliability.

About this job:

- Lead direct and/or assist with the management of the maintenance crews ensures and promotes a safety conscience work environment manage and abide by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement communicate and support the technical and business directions of the organization including Business Plans equipment strategies and business rules.
- Evaluates the future maintenance schedules planned outage list strategic maintenance backlogs and equipment history for the purpose of scheduling future work. Trends crew performance and job performance improvements. Evaluates human error events and safety incident root causes to better understand and prevent future events.
- Work with plant foreman Maintenance and Reliability Department and supervisor to develop an achievable workable schedule communicate when a job requires further job planning and update progress as required and support documentation for job completion.
- Break down and schedule large maintenance and special project scopes including milestones costs target dates and materials. Work closely with Maintenance and Reliability and Hydro Engineering Departments to assure quality control upon assembly.
- Assist in the development of job safety analysis work plans and equipment and area work strategies in support of safety and the reliability based production model. Participate contribute and support various work groups committees and teams within the organizations such as: S&H committees human performance initiatives and joint labor management committee. Assist in the coordination and execution of safety walk downs and safety audits. Support company safety initiatives and local safety improvement efforts.
- Supervise craft employees to provide high quality products and services for our customers monitor work progress of the craft to completion of job assignments communicate and follow through on the needs and concerns of employees. Communicate employee concerns to the appropriate department or manager. Reinforce policies and take appropriate actions.
- Forecast and schedule tasks and resources for daily work annual overhauls planned and forced outages and projects to ensure quality and timeliness in accordance with the plan and priorities. Sets priorities to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
- Interface with engineering operations maintenance and vendor/contractor personnel.
- Leads special projects as required utilizing effective change and project management techniques.
- Perform individual lift of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Required to be available for 24 hour on call status per the business unit Supervisor-On-Call schedule throughout the year and is informally on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week

Am I right for this job Heres the success profile:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management preferred or 8 years of equivalent experience required
- 5 or more years experience in industrial plant operations and maintenance preferred
- 5 years supervisory experience formal or informal preferred
- Power generation experience preferred
- Good understanding of collective bargaining agreements and safety procedures and work practices
- Experience developing and managing budgets cost controls and schedules
- Experience using computerized maintenance management programs and reporting tools
- Demonstrated ability to research and apply equipment performance and process issues without guidance
- Demonstrated ability to lead safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures
- Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
- Strong leadership and motivational skills required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
