Purpose Statement:
The job of Fire Security Technician was established for the purpose/s of maintaining indoor/outdoor security equipment fire alarms and intercom/Bell systems safe operating condition; and providing information on proper operation of various electronic systems. This job reports to the Fire/Security Foreman.
Essential Functions:
- Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels operates snow blower and/or snowplow) for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment.
- Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Coordinates with administration contractors and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Inspects repair work projects equipment work orders etc. for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently and within local state federal regulations.
- Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
- Monitors security and fire alarm equipment both indoor and outdoor for the purpose of ensuring that equipment is working properly and safely.
- Records work orders inspections and purchases for the purpose of documenting information for other personnel.
- Repairs and maintains electronic systems including communications security alarms etc. for the purpose of ensuring proper/safe efficient operation of equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Reviews work orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with pertinent fire building and/or safety codes.
- Transports various items (e.g. tools equipment supplies etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.

- Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration direct interaction with team members other staff students and/or guardians and access to on-site equipment and resources.

- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Physical Requirements Not limited to the following:
- Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Move about inside and outside the school to access files students and machinery.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator copy machine computer computer printer.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder/stairs to access high objects or different levels of the building.
- Constantly positions self to maintain files students or objects.
- Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Have the ability to observe details at close and far range.
- Frequently move items weighing up to 20 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
- Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling squatting bending standing and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time
- Utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans
- Participate in and utilize district safety training

Physical Demands:
Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions; balancing climbing crawling crouching feeling fingering grasping handling hearing kneeling lifting mental acuity pulling pushing reaching repetitive motion speaking standing stooping talking visual acuity and walking.

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to adhere to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and operating equipment used in trade including electronic equipment general hand and power tools jackhammer etc.
- Knowledge preferred of safety practices and procedures; health standards and hazards; electronic and general repair work; and fire security systems.
- Must be able to read and interpret plans prints and diagrams; adapting to changing work priorities; and meeting deadlines and schedules.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred..
Education: Targeted job related education that meets organizations prerequisite requirements.
Needs to have (or be willing to acquire) and maintain necessary licenses:
- Fire alarm inspection/testing
- Fire sprinkler inspection/testing
- Fire extinguisher service/testing
- Kitchen hood service/inspection
- Backflow certification
