Job Summary
MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Machinist - 2nd Shift at our Savanna IL manufacturing this hands-on role you will set up operate maintain and troubleshoot machining equipment to fabricate assemble and repair precision parts to specified dimensions and quality standards. You will work with lathes milling machines grinders and related equipment to support safe efficient production.
Location: Savanna IL
Work Arrangement: On-site
Schedule: 2nd Shift Monday-Friday 3:00 PM-11:30 PM; training on 1st Shift for up to 6 months 6:30 AM-3:00 PM
Pay: $16.00-$19.00/hour depending on experience
Other Compensation: $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd Shift
Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs.
Set up and operate lathes milling machines grinders and other mechanical equipment to fabricate assemble and repair precision parts including changing sensors.
Read and interpret blueprints technical drawings torque specifications and engineering requirements to maintain accurate dimensions and tolerances.
Test and adjust machines including making equipment adjustments using PLC screens to support safe efficient operation and product quality.
Maintain troubleshoot and service equipment to help ensure reliable production performance.
Use pick lists and bills of materials to accurately complete machine setups.
Identify and report issues with machinery or parts to supervisors for resolution.
Follow applicable Safety Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
Help train less experienced team members on applicable work processes and equipment.
Typically 3 years of machining and blueprint-reading experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
Machine operation and precision measurement skills.
Ability to interpret and apply detailed work instructions technical drawings blueprints specifications and manufacturing processes.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation accurately.
Basic mathematical skills.
Proficiency with computer systems and technical applications used to support machine operation.
Strong attention to detail problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently take initiative and drive assigned tasks to completion.
Ability to communicate effectively and build productive working relationships with team members and internal customers.
Reliable attendance and punctuality to support production timelines and team operations.
This is an on-site hands-on manufacturing position involving work with lathes milling machines grinders precision parts and related production equipment. The role requires safely setting up operating maintaining troubleshooting and servicing machinery while following applicable Safety Environmental and Quality procedures.
