Machine Operator (Sublimation Afternoons)

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor the Sublimation Operator is responsible for the proper use and care of the sublimation oven and vacuum system ensuring appropriate settings for the oven and vacuum system and maintaining a quality product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesincludesthe duties may be assigned.

General Duties

• Commit to and follow the facility Mission Vision and Values that support the AWI Operating Principles as an individual and team.

• Attend andparticipatein all required company training programs.

SublimationDuties

• Operate allsublimationequipment includingthe oven vacuum system and bagging areas.

• Operate machinery or stationsas instructed by the Team Leader to meet scheduled demands.

• Support the development of standard recipes for various parts orfilms.

• Ensurestandard recipes are working as intended and verify that the settings do not need adjustments toimprove the quality of the product or efficiency of theoperation.

• Reducefilmwaste by learning thedetails onhowthe equipmentfunctionsandaffects the product.

• Learn the effect ofthe vacuum on the products anddeterminethe need for inserts to prevent the vacuum from distorting the parts.

• Help the fabrication team design anddevelop new inserts as needed.

• Makeappropriate runningdecisions to prevent excessivedefects and/or downtime.

• Developa knowledgeof powder coating and how it canaffectthe sublimated product.

• Keepaccuraterecords of production waste qualitychecks undertaken.

• Troubleshoot issues that are within your knowledge and to contact more resources for issues outside of your knowledge and control.

• Check product quality using visual standards and any quality devices as needed.

• Monitor aspects of theoven/vacuumthat could affectthe productquality using devices standard work and knowledge of theprocess.

• Understand when afilm or powder coated panelisofstandardqualityor ofgood qualityvswhen there is an issue that needs to beaddressed.

• Create and/orimproveuponstandard work processes including but not limited to:

• Start Up

• Shut Down

• While Running

• Change Overs

• Troubleshooting

• Downday

Cost

• Looks for projects or methods to reduce cost without sacrificing the quality of the parts.

• Driveswaste out of operation.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills including Excel & web-based applications to enter dataregularly and accurately.

• Priormanufacturing assembly material movement or powder coating operations experience preferred.

• Ability tolearn andunderstand the PLC operating screenand data output screens.

• Understand your internal customer base (Assembly and Crating).Be customer oriented;possessthe ability toreact to thecustomers needs while following company procedures.

• Direct knowledge anddemonstratedunderstanding ofJohnstown plant productsand processes is preferred.

• Knowledge of metal manufacturing materials fabrication processes and machinery preferred.

• Must beflexible and be able to respond with a positive attitude to changing demands and conditions.

• Must be able to effectively communicate with manyareas of the plant/company during meetings presentations and variousconversationson and off the floor.

• Attention to detailand understand/adjusting tominor detail changes.

• Ability to learn how tooperatea forklift and other company vehicles.
