Position Overview

ProAmpac is seeking a Machine Operator I to join our Rochester manufacturing this role you will set up adjust and operate production equipment used to manufacture high-quality flexible packaging including bags and pouches.

What Youll Do

As a Machine Operator I you will be responsible for safely operating production equipment while meeting quality and production standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Set up adjust and operate production machinery with guidance from experienced operators.

  • Operate multiple machines and secondary equipment while working toward established production and quality standards.

  • Perform in-process quality inspections and complete required quality documentation.

  • Read and follow job orders routing instructions specifications and other production documentation.

  • Monitor machine performance production speed and scrap levels and notify supervision of issues or excessive waste.

  • Identify basic machine or production issues and assist with troubleshooting as appropriate.

  • Accurately complete production quality inventory and machine activity records throughout the shift.

  • Label leftover materials with required inventory information and move materials components and finished goods to designated areas.

  • Assist with basic training of machine operators and packers as needed.

  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work area throughout the shift.

  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) machine guarding PPE and other safety requirements.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) SQF food safety quality environmental and EHS requirements.

  • Promptly report food safety quality equipment or safety concerns.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals.

  • Work overtime as needed based on business requirements.

  • Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned.

What Were Looking For
  • Previous machine operator manufacturing production or mechanical experience preferred.

  • Mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how equipment works.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions production specifications and safety procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic problems and communicate issues effectively.

  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to safety quality accountability and continuous improvement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position works primarily in an indoor manufacturing environment. Safety shoes and eye protection are required on the production floor.

While performing this job employees regularly stand and walk for extended periods; use their hands and fingers to handle materials tools and equipment; reach with their hands and arms; and communicate with team members. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The manufacturing environment may include exposure to moving mechanical equipment elevated noise levels airborne dust non-toxic or nuisance odors and warmer or more humid conditions during summer months.

About Company
