Long Term Substitute Math Teacher

General Statement:As a Teacher provide support to the educational process with specific focus on instructional and mentoring practices. This includes maintaining a positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate ask questions and generally receive the individual attention they deserve to effectively learn the material in a lesson plan.

Responsibilities:

• Provides instruction on pre-approved curriculum in the content area.
• Integrates soft-skill instruction into competency-based content area activities.
• Promotes the use of multiple methods in solving problems identifying more efficient strategies.
• Encourages collaborative teamwork in the classroom teaching students to communicate effectively and thoughtfully justify their reasoning and to consider multiple perspectives when solving problems.
• Relates lesson content to prior and future learning.
• Adheres to the requirements and standards of the Rhode Island Department of Education Educator Evaluation process.
• Collaborates with other core content teachers on common course planning integration and alignment.
• Attends all relevant professional development opportunities.
• Committed to establishing and maintaining frequent communication with parents/guardians.
• Possesses knowledge and skills in differentiating learning processes content and assessments.
• Ability to adapt to the various ages within a Middle School setting.
• Proficient in technological applications and presentation.
• Establish appropriate classroom rules and procedures that are clearly understood by all students.
• Effectively and consistently enforces rules and requires adherence to procedures by students.
• Redirects students naturally and immediately without disrupting others.
• Organizes materials and equipment etc. to be ready for immediate use.
• Begins and ends class period with focus on learning.
• Establishes a positive learning environment.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in teaching or administration preferred.
• Education:
  • Bachelors degree required.
• Certification & Licensing:
  • Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications.
• Authorized to work in the USA
• Current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.

Please note that all school year positions both certified and non-certified posted during the school year are temporary unless otherwise indicated to allow for internal movement at the close of the respective school year.
