Position Description: Speech and Language Therapist
Position Goal: The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for screening assessing diagnosing and treating disorders related to speech language communication swallowing and voice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Current Massachusetts DESE license as a Speech and Language Therapist
- Understanding of the Individual Education Program (IEP) process
- Ability to work as part of an educational team
Reports to: School Principal and Administrator of Student Services
Responsibilities:
- Conduct screenings for preschool/kindergarten students and other students as needed.
- Complete standard assessments for children referred for a speech and language evaluation. The therapist will also complete three-year evaluations as required by a students IEP.
- Complete formal written evaluations and share such results at a students team meeting. If a student is found to have a speech and language disorder the therapist shall recommend ways to best meet the students needs including setting goals.
- Work directly with students individually or in groups on students individual speech and language goals and objectives.
- Maintain data on student progress and complete progress notes each quarter of the school year.
- Work with all team members including classroom teachers and other therapists and provide consultation services as required.
- Complete professional development activities to seek knowledge on current best practices.
- Maintain students FM systems as needed.
