Job Summary

**Position Overview:**- **Profession/Specialty:** Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Urgent Care

- **Coverage Location:** Richmond VA (multiple sites in the Richmond metropolitan area)

- **Coverage Dates:** 3 days per week commencing immediately upon credentialing and continuing until permanent hires are onboarded

- **Schedule:** Clinics operate 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM; shifts are 12 hours or longer based on patient volume. Providers are expected to manage all patients presenting during operational hours.

**Provider Requirements:**- **Total Providers Needed:** 3 full-time (3 shifts/week each totaling 9 shifts/week)

- **Reason for Coverage:** Temporary staffing gap due to provider resignations

**Practice Setting:** - **Type:** Clinic

- **Patient Demographics:** Scope of care ranges from birth to end of life with variability among clinics day-to-day. - **Care Setting Proportions:** 100% outpatient

- **Average Patient Load:** Varies per clinic typically ranging from 25 to 50 patients per day with an increase as cold and flu season approaches

- **Trauma Level Designation:** Management of episodic events; higher acuity cases will require transfer to higher-level facilities (ED ER etc.)

**Required Skills and Procedures:**

- Competency in various urgent care procedures including:

- Laceration repairs (simple to complex suturing and stapling)

- Incision and drainage procedures including packing

- Foreign body removals

- Minor burn management and skin lesion care

- Orthopedic stabilization splinting casting and joint reduction

- Diagnostic testing and point-of-care lab interpretation including rapid tests for strep flu COVID-19 RSV urinalysis and blood glucose

- EKG evaluation and interpretation

- Epistaxis management (anterior nasal packing or chemical cautery with silver nitrate)

- Cerumen impaction removal

- Airway support including nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization

**Documentation Systems:** - EMR utilized: Epic

**Shift Details:**- **Duration:** 12-hour shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM; expectation of variable hours based on patient flow; 3 shifts/week.

**Job Requirements:**

- **Board Certification:** Required

- **Licensure:** Valid Virginia license (active).

- **BLS Certification:** Required (active).

- **DEA Registration:** Required (active).

- **Experience:** Minimum of 1 year in ED/ER primary care or urgent care setting (required).

- **Background Check:** Must have a clean history with no malpractice or licensure infractions (no exceptions).

- **Client Payment Policy:** Client will not cover travel expenses and is seeking local candidates or inclusive rate arrangements.

**Certifications Required:**- BLS- Board Certification

- DEA Registration

**Licensure Requirement:**- Active Virginia licensure.
