Position Summary: Reporting to the companys Vice President - General Counsel this role offers the opportunity to work in a broad-based in-house legal position that supports the businesss daily operations and long-term goals. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance across a variety of practice areas working closely with colleagues in the legal department internal stakeholders in other departments and outside legal counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
The Legal Counsel IV is expected to possess at least six years of experience handling a combination of the following matters:
Transactional Work: Draft negotiate and provide post-execution support for a wide-range of business-to-business transactions including:
Construction contracts;
Real estate leases;
Asset purchase agreements;
Software licensing agreements;
Marketing agreements; and
Non-disclosure agreements
Employment Law: Advise HR professionals and business managers on employment-related issues such as:
Employee misconduct investigations;
Employee handbook drafting and enforcement;
Background checks and payroll practices; and
Leave requests and workplace accommodation
Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management:
- Resolve pre-litigation claims brought by customers business partners and former employees;
- Oversee and manage outside legal counsel in active litigation matters
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- At least six years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
- Strong drafting negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Practical business-minded approach to legal risk-assessment and problem-solving
