Job Summary

Successful law firm seeks a Legal Assistant to join our Indianapolis IN office.  
The Legal Assistant enhances attorneys effectiveness by developing case information evidence and settlement options tracking cases and supporting attorneys hearing proceedings. This position will support multiple attorneys with the preparation of documents for the defense of workers compensation cases.

After the initial 90-day onboarding period employees may be eligible for 12 work-from-home days per week depending on performance and business needs.


Essential Job Functions:
    Keeps cases organized by establishing organizing and maintaining files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software.
    Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case scheduling depositions assisting with discovery requests and responses requesting medical records scheduling IMEs preparing and filing pleadings.
    Enhances hearing preparations and proceedings by organizing evidence preparing exhibits scheduling witnesses ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed.
    Transcribes dictation completes daily mailings maintains firm calendar and coordinates court appearances and out of town travel.
    Accomplishes organization goals accepts new and different requests and explores opportunities to add value to efficiency and effectiveness of job responsibilities.
    Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications :


    High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required; associate or bachelors degree preferred.
    Paralegal certificate preferred.
    2 years of Administrative Assistant experience supporting corporate or legal office in an administrative capacity.
    Working knowledge of legal rules and procedures.
    Microsoft Word experience required; Excel and PowerPoint experience preferred.
    Outstanding organizational interpersonal and administrative skills.
    Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
    Excellent telephone writing and proofreading skills.
    Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
    Must be able to work as part of a team too independently.
