Job Description

About the role:

The purpose oftheLead ProductSustainability Strategyis to:

  • Develop and implement overarching strategies for product sustainability that enable Takeda tocredibly and consistently articulate product-level environmental performanceto meet the growing requirements incustomer tender submissionsandto bolsterTakedas Planet strategy and brandobjectives.

  • Partner with Commercial Regulatory Medical Legal and Corporate Sustainability to design substantiate approve and govern sustainability-related product claims and narratives that support the business whilemeeting tender/customer documentation requirementsandpreventing non-compliant or misleading claims.

  • Collaborate with Environmental Sustainability Operations and DD&T toidentifyand operationalize the data needs assessments methodologies and evidenceto supportproduct-level sustainability narratives and tender disclosures includingmaintainingdocumentation that istraceable defensible and inspection/audit ready.

  • Establishmaintain and continuously improve theglobal Sustainability Product Claims governance frameworkto enableconsistent compliant and scalableexecution across Takedas portfolio and geographiesensuring Takeda canqualify for and respond to customer tendersthat require verified sustainability information and controlled product claims.

How you will contribute:

  • Leads the design andimplementationofTakedasproductsustainabilitynarrative strategies forprioritybrands and pipeline assetsensuringalignmentwithenterprisesustainabilitygoalsbrand strategies and customer tenderrequirements.

  • CollaboratescloselywithRegulatoryAffairs Legal Compliance andPharmacovigilancetodefineguardrails forsustainabilityrelatedclaimsensureappropriateevidencestandards andoverseereview and approvalprocesses.

  • Works withEnvironmentalSustainabilityOperations and DD&Ttodefinedatarequirementsmethodologies andmetricsneededtosubstantiateclaimsincludingmaintainingdocumentation that istraceable defensible and inspection/audit ready.

  • Designsimplements andmaturestheSustainabilityProductClaimsgovernance frameworkincludingrolesdecisionrightsoperatingproceduresdocumentationstandards and escalation pathways.

  • Developsclearcredible anddifferentiatedproductsustainabilitynarrativesandclaimstranslatingcomplextechnicalassessments(e.g. lifecycleassessmentoutputsemissionsdata)intocompellingcontentfor diverse stakeholders.

  • Partners with Commercial Marketing Market Access andMedicalAffairs to integratesustainabilitynarrativesintobrand planspromotionaland nonpromotionalmaterials andpatientand HCPeducationtoolsincompliance withregulatoryandpromotionalstandards.

  • Co leads orparticipatesin crossfunctionalgovernance forums and project teamsfocusedon productlevelsustainabilityensuringconsistentapplicationof policy andtimelydecisionmaking.

  • Monitorsexternalregulatory policy andstakeholder trendsrelatedtoenvironmentalandsustainabilityclaims;recommendsupdates tointernalpolicies templates and trainingaccordingly.

  • Developsanddeliverstrainingplaybooks and tools to build capability insustainabilitynarrativedevelopmentacrossglobal andregionalteams.

  • Engageswithexternalpartners (e.g.industryassociationsNGOsspecialistconsultancies)asappropriate to benchmarkTakedasapproachalignwith best practices andstrengthencredibilityofmethodsandclaims.

  • Maintainshigh standards ofethicalconductandintegrityproactivelyidentifyingandmitigatingrisks of greenwashingreputationalharm ormisalignmentwith Takedavalues.

  • Other dutiesasassigned.

What you bring to Takeda:

Education / experience

  • Bachelorsdegreepreferablyin ascientificdiscipline (e.g.environmentalsciencesustainabilitychemistry life sciences)communications business or engineering;advanceddegree (e.g.MSc MPH MBAPharmD JD)preferred.

  • Typically8yearsofrelevantexperienceinpharmaceuticalbiotechnologyhealthcare consumergoods orrelatedregulatedindustryincludingsignificantexperienceinsustainability ESG brand/portfolio marketingmedicalaffairsregulatoryaffairs orcommunications.

  • Demonstratedtrack recorddevelopingorgoverningproductrelatedclaimsnarratives orcommunicationsinconsultationwith LegalRegulatory and Compliance partners.

  • Strong program and project management capabilities;ableto leadcomplexcrossfunctionalinitiativesanddeliverhighqualityoutputs on time.

  • Excellentwrittenandoralcommunication skills;abletodistillcomplextechnicalcontentintoclear concise andcompellingmessagesfor diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Provenabilityto workeffectivelyin ahighlymatrixed globalorganization; strong stakeholder managementinfluence andnegotiationskills.

  • Experience withsustainabilityand ESG strategiesenvironmentalimpactassessments or lifecycleassessmentisstronglypreferred.

  • Experience in thepharmaceuticalorhealthcaresectorandfamiliaritywithindustryspecificregulatoryandpromotionalstandards arehighlydesirable.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$154400.00 - $242550.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience specific and unique skills level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
