Job Summary

The Lead Instructor serves as senior instructional faculty within the Paramedic Program providing instructional leadership course coordination and faculty support under the direction of the Program Director. This role ensures high-quality delivery of didactic laboratory simulation clinical and field internship education consistent with the approved curriculum and CAAHEP/CoAEMSP Standards and Guidelines. The Lead Instructor supports instructional consistency student competency development faculty mentorship and continuous quality improvement while operating within delegated authority and without administrative responsibility for the program.

  • Deliver assigned paramedic course content in didactic laboratory simulation clinical and field internship settings in alignment with the approved curriculum and current standards of emergency medical care.
  • Provide academic support coaching and structured remediation to promote student success and competency attainment.
  • Assist the Program Director in coordinating instructional activities across didactic laboratory clinical and field internship components.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of course objectives lesson plans evaluation tools and grading standards across instructional faculty.
  • Provide leadership mentorship and guidance to adjunct and part-time instructors to maintain instructional quality and consistency.
  • Assist with faculty orientation development and informal evaluation as delegated by the Program Director.
  • Evaluate student performance in the cognitive psychomotor and affective domains using approved assessment methods.
  • Ensure timely accurate documentation of student performance competency verification attendance and remediation activities.
  • Support compliance with CAAHEP and CoAEMSP Standards and Guidelines related to instruction student evaluation and faculty oversight.
  • Participate in curriculum review outcomes assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for designated content areas and assist in maintaining instructional best practices.
  • Perform responsibilities as delegated by the Program Director without assuming administrative authority or ultimate responsibility for program accreditation.

Qualifications :

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Current professional healthcare credential (e.g. Paramedic) in good standing.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in emergency medicine and/or prehospital patient care demonstrating advanced clinical competency.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of instructional experience in EMS or allied health education including didactic laboratory and/or clinical instruction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles competency-based education and student evaluation methodologies.
  • Proven ability to design deliver and evaluate course content skills instruction simulation activities and structured remediation.
  • Experience supporting curriculum implementation instructional coordination or faculty mentorship.
  • Working knowledge of CAAHEP and CoAEMSP Standards and Guidelines related to instruction and student assessment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience participating in curriculum development outcomes assessment or accreditation-related activities.
  • Current instructor certifications (e.g. ACLS PALS PHTLS AMLS ITLS) and/or instructor-trainer status.
  • Experience mentoring instructors coordinating course sections or leading instructional teams.
  • Familiarity with CAAHEP/CoAEMSP Standards and Guidelines and accreditation documentation processes.
