Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Estimator to support the development of competitive accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for complex EPC power infrastructure projects. This position serves as the subject matter expert for instrumentation controls SCADA DCS/PLC systems communications and associated electrical control systems across power generation renewable energy battery energy storage transmission substation and industrial projects.
The Lead I&C Estimator will lead estimating efforts from conceptual through detailed design phases collaborate with engineering procurement construction and project controls teams and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary estimating groups. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of control systems with proven estimating expertise and a commitment to safety quality and execution excellence. Quanta Power Solutions delivers integrated EPC solutions across power generation renewables transmission substations and energy infrastructure projects.
- Develop complete I&C estimates for EPC and construction projects including labor materials equipment subcontractors and indirect costs.
- Prepare conceptual budgetary FEED and definitive estimates using drawings specifications and scope documents.
- Quantify instrumentation control valves analyzers PLC/DCS equipment SCADA systems communications infrastructure and associated field installation requirements.
- Analyze labor productivity installation methodologies and project execution strategies to develop accurate labor-hour forecasts.
- Solicit evaluate and level vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Support estimate benchmarking risk assessments escalation modeling and contingency development.
- Serve as the estimating subject matter expert for instrumentation and controls disciplines.
- Coordinate with engineering procurement construction and project management teams to ensure scope completeness.
- Review estimate assumptions exclusions and basis-of-estimate documentation.
- Mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement initiatives within the preconstruction organization.
- Participate in bid reviews estimate presentations and client discussions.
- Support proposal development pricing strategies and executive review processes.
- Assist business development teams with project opportunities and client pursuits.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Engineering Technology or related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- 8 years of estimating experience in instrumentation & controls electrical industrial power generation energy or EPC projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing detailed construction and EPC estimates for large capital projects.
- Strong understanding of PLC DCS SCADA communications systems instrumentation installation commissioning and startup activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications P&IDs one-line diagrams and control system architecture documents.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating platforms.
- Experience supporting power generation renewable energy battery energy storage systems (BESS) transmission substation or industrial infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of estimating software such as InEight ACC Bluebeam or similar industry tools.
- Familiarity with project controls schedule-driven estimating and EPC execution models.
