Job Description Summary
The Lead Facility Maintenance Technician is the senior technical authority for all building systems and trades combining expertlevel handson capability with leadership responsibilities. This role oversees daily maintenance operations trains and mentors technicians ensures quality workmanship and serves as the primary escalation point for complex troubleshooting across HVAC electrical plumbing controls mechanical systems and building operations. The Lead Technician sets the technical standard for the team drives continuous improvement and ensures safe efficient and compliant facility operations.
Job Description
EXPERIENCE EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated technical training and handson proficiency across multiple trades including HVAC electrical plumbing controls and mechanical systems.
  • Proven experience serving as the technical escalation point for complex multitrade issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to train mentor and develop maintenance technicians.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in commercial or industrial oil field facility maintenance
  • Minimum of 3 years within a lead or leadership role
  • Current valid drivers license with a clean driving record(commercial license may be required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Excel and Word
  • Technical proficiency with work order management systems (CMMS)
  • Current EPA 608 certification (state licensing is a plus but not required)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associates degree or vocational/technical school

diploma preferred

  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening

  • Primary Escalation Point Serves as the goto expert for complex troubleshooting across all trades.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with outside stakeholders as well as internal team members Foster a safe and professional work environment.
  • Must be able to articulate notes and record time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Role

  • Lead mentor and train maintenance technicians across all trades ensuring consistent skill development and safe work practices.
  • Perform quality inspections on completed work orders to ensure accuracy safety and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex troubleshooting across HVAC electrical plumbing controls and mechanical systems.
  • Guide technicians through rootcause analysis and corrective action development.
  • Support onboarding and skill development for new technicians.
  • Coordinate with the Planner/Scheduler to ensure work orders are properly scoped sequenced and staffed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include packaging and handling machinery large air compressors plumbing systems kitchen equipment roofs drains shop equipment grounds equipment and HVAC systems among others
  • Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned
  • Comply with all applicable codes regulations governmental agency
  • Leverage knowledge of past projects as well as new methodologies & technologies for use on project scoping through quotation and performance

Secondary Role

  • Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles door hardware wallpaper and can paint walls piping floors and equipment
  • Inspect buildings grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions perform both reactive & preventative maintenance
  • Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems such as fire alarm systems fire pumps and related fire protection system equipment
  • Possess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenance
  • Comply with company dress code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hours
LEADERSHIP & OVERSIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide daily direction guidance and support to maintenance technicians.
  • Train technicians in multi-trade skills safety procedures troubleshooting methods and CMMS documentation.
  • Review and approve complex work orders ensuring proper scope materials and methods.
  • Conduct periodic skills assessments and recommend training plans for technicians.
  • Ensure all team members maintain accurate documentation within the CMMS.
  • Act as the senior technical representative during audits inspections and client interactions.
  • Promote a culture of safety professionalism and continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This role operates in a professional office environment as well as industrial oil field type environments both indoors and outside during hot and cold climates. This role routinely uses maintenance tools and personnel lifts and standard office equipment such as computers phones and printers to accomplish tasks. Extend hands and arms in multiple directions to perform tasks Lift carry push or pull objects weighing up to fifty pounds. May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and / or stand-by on-call duties.
