Role: Lead Apigee Developer

Location: Concord CA

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Apigee Developer to design develop and manage enterprise-grade API platforms using Google Apigee. The role requires deep expertise in API design security and lifecycle management with a strong focus on scalable high-performance integrations. A candidate with a strong Java/J2EE background and integration experience (microservices middleware ESB) will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design development and implementation of API solutions using Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid)
• Define and enforce API design standards governance and best practices
• Build and manage API proxies shared flows policies and security frameworks
• Implement robust API security (OAuth2 JWT mTLS rate limiting threat protection)
• Design and develop integration solutions across systems (cloud/on-prem)
• Ensure high performance scalability and reliability of APIs
• Work closely with architecture product and engineering teams to enable digital transformation initiatives
• Provide technical leadership mentoring and code reviews
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and optimize API performance
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for API deployments

Required Skills & Experience

• 8 years of experience in software development and integration
• 4 years of hands-on experience with Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid)
• Strong expertise in:
  • API development and lifecycle management
  • RESTful APIs and API standards
  • API security (OAuth JWT etc.)
• Experience with API gateway policies debugging and analytics
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred AWS/Azure acceptable)
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins Git etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Nice-to-Have / Preferred

• Strong background in Java/J2EE (Spring Boot Microservices)
• Experience with integration technologies (ESB middleware Kafka messaging systems)
• Exposure to OpenShift/Kubernetes-based deployments
• Experience in financial services or enterprise-scale platforms
• Knowledge of API monetization and developer portals

Leadership Expectations

• Drive API strategy and roadmap alignment with enterprise architecture
• Mentor junior developers and guide best practices adoption

• Act as a technical SME for API and integration architecture
