Compensation Range

The estimated daily rate for each piece of onsite work ranges from $645 to $845 per day inclusive of preparatory time. This calculation is based on:

  • $100/hour for onsite work or virtual billable time

  • $30/hour for non-billable time such as preparation or internal meetings

Location: This is a remote position with expectations of on-site partnership. Due to the location of client sites and travel requirements this role is open to candidates who reside in Massachusetts and proximal states (Rhode Island Connecticut New York New Hampshire Vermont).

Travel: This position requires weekly travel to partner school sites in Massachusetts (one to four days per week). Please plan to spend up to 7-8 hours per day onsite at assigned schools.

The Opportunity

At Lavinia Group a division of K12 Coalition Educational Consultants play a critical role in directly supporting partner schools across the country to achieve world-class instruction through effective professional development and instructional coaching.

We are seeking an experienced instructional leader with deep expertise in K-12 English Language Arts (ELA) to support Lavinia Groups school and district partnerships in Massachusetts. The ideal candidate has led teams to achieve strong academic outcomes in diverse educational settings and brings a passion for coaching and developing educators.

In this role you will work closely with instructional leaders and teachers to strengthen the systems structures and instructional practices that translate academic priorities into consistent high-quality classroom instruction. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of closing opportunity gaps and ensuring excellent equitable ELA instruction for students across grades K-12.

What Youll Do

Strategic Planning and Content Development

  • Strategically set the vision for high-impact instruction for the assigned content area and implementation of Lavinia Groups curriculum and instructional models in a set of school or network/district partnerships to ensure strong and equitable outcomes for all students

  • Design and develop instructional materials and resources tailored to each partners specific needs and strategy this includes adapting existing Lavinia Groups materials and creating new content when needed

  • Ensure that high-quality impactful instructional management plans professional development and coaching services are provided to teachers instructional coaches building leaders and system leaders

  • Engage in collaborative team structures to ensure alignment between Lavinia Group team members and to continuously improve Lavinia Group instructional tools

Coaching and Instruction

  • Coach instructional leaders to strengthen the systems structures and routines needed to translate instructional priorities into consistent practice including effective intellectual preparation and collaborative meetings

  • Support instructional leaders in developing a clear vision for excellent K-12 ELA teaching and learning including modeling exemplary instruction and evidence-based practices

  • Design and facilitate coaching and professional learning that leverages co-teaching modeling observation and actionable in-the-moment feedback to strengthen instructional practice

  • Deliver model lessons and classroom demonstrations in K-12 ELA to support teacher development and highlight instructional best practices

  • Facilitate structured analysis of student work and data to identify instructional priorities analyze misconceptions and develop action plans

  • Actively monitor progress of partners through onsite coaching ongoing data analysis observation and feedback cycles and meetings with key stakeholders to drive measurable and sustainable improvements in teaching and learning

Other Duties

  • Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.


  • Deep content knowledge in elementary English Language Arts and/or secondary English Language Arts Bachelors or Masters degree in a related content area strongly preferred

  • 5 years of experience teaching coaching and leading in the content area

  • 3 years of K12 leadership experience as an assistant principal principal charter or district-level director or managing director or superintendent

  • Experience working with diverse learner populations including students with special education needs multilingual learners and students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds across charter public and private school settings

  • Track record of achieving strong academic outcomes in a school setting working across grades K12

  • Strong writing and communication skills including experience leading both virtual and in-person professional learning

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple demands while working across several partner schools

  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks preferred
