CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Landscaping and Maintenance TechnicianEmployment Status: Full-timeFLSA Status: Non-exemptReports to: Facilities ManagerDivision: Technology and InfrastructureDISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICSAssists with the maintenance repair and daily operations of college facilities and grounds. Performs landscaping preventive maintenance equipment maintenance and general building maintenance while developing skills in HVAC electrical plumbing mechanical systems and facilities operations. This position provides an opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and facilities-related skills and advance within the Colleges Facilities Services DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards. Maintains garden beds through weeding mulching and planting flowers and Responsibilities:Assists with spring and fall cleanup snow removal and salting. Ensures drainage areas are free of Upkeep:Ensures all common areas parking lots and walkways are free of debris and light painting including touch-ups to scuffed surfaces trim fences and all surfaces meet professional standards through proper preparation including sanding and property through routine walkthroughs to identify and report repairs needed to walkways or exterior routine HVAC care including AC filter changes across the property on a scheduled and services college vehicles and equipment ensuring proper and safe working order. Performs preventive maintenance and makes necessary repairs including but not limited to cleaning greasing and checking oil and fluid levels on mowers and other power as an integral member of the Facilities Services team that actively promotes a collaborative and customer service-oriented mindset while supporting facilities maintenance systems and users across the functions in a fast-paced environment with competing and changing priorities. Assesses needs and evaluates departmental requests with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks. Is detail-oriented and promotes an adaptable and flexible attitude. Builds commitment and effectively supports constructive and performs preventive maintenance tasks. Completes general repairs to buildings moves office equipment replaces light bulbs hangs items as requested and performs other general maintenance with unlocking and locking assigned buildings and ensures the general security of assigned campus with preparation and cleanup for activities and special events as assigned. Sets up and dismantles chairs and tables and performs other maintenance the facilities ticket request system including responding to requests and communicating with requestors regarding progress. Corrects or reports any building deficiencies that may compromise the safety and security of the within established policies and procedures and chooses among processes and work methods most suitable to the situation. Refers difficult or unusual situations and problems to the Facilities with the Facilities Manager daily regarding project status as needed. Assists with requirements and scope development for projects and information with all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for the storage handling and disposal of hazardous in maintaining the Colleges compliance with the Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Ohio Public Employees Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable regulatory assigned schedule exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload work a flexible schedule in order to respond to unpredictable and emergency situations related to facilities and support systems.
