Job Description
Position Overview The Xu Lab in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marshall Universitys Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is seeking a part-time technician. The primary objective of this position is to construct genetic mutants of Streptococcus pyogenes . Key Responsibilities Mutant Construction: Design and generate targeted gene mutations in streptococcal strains. Molecular Cloning: Perform PCR restriction cloning plasmid purification and gel electrophoresis. Bacterial Transformation: Introduce recombinant DNA into bacteria using electroporation or chemical competence. Strain Verification: Validate mutant strains using screening PCR and DNA sequencing data analysis. Inventory Tracking: Maintain clean records of primers plasmids and newly created glycerol stocks.
