Labor Relations Assistant-Labor Relations-Mount Sinai Health System-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
The Labor Relations Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the hospitals Labor Relations team. This entry-level position assists with scheduling meetings maintaining records and providing customer service to staff and union representatives. The role ensures the smooth daily operation of labor relations activities within a large unionized hospital system.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Labor Relations office by answering phones responding to inquiries and directing calls or visitors appropriately.
- Schedule grievance hearings labor-management meetings and arbitration sessions; coordinate meeting logistics collects supporting evidence from management reviews redacts patient identifiers and prepares materials.
- Maintain organized filing systemsboth electronic and paper filesfor contracts grievances and labor documentation.
- Assist in tracking grievance and disciplinary actions under the guidance of Labor Relations staff.
- Prepare routine correspondence meeting notes and reports as directed.
- Update tracking spreadsheets contact lists and department calendars. Tracks employee corporate compliance complaints documents follow up and close out of investigation outcome.
- Support Labor Relations staff with preparing packets for negotiations and maintaining document confidentiality.
- Coordinate messenger and mail services for time-sensitive labor relations materials.
- Perform general office duties including photocopying scanning data entry and inventory of office supplies.
- Assists with investigation of employee issues.
- Familiar with provisions of the collective bargaining agreements and provides direction as required.
- Collects and manipulates data to generate various reports
- Completes assigned Labor Relations projects as needed such as year-end data reports.
- Occasional travel between hospital campuses may be required.
- Associates degree or some college coursework in Human Resources Business Administration or related field preferred. Bachelors degree highly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- 12 years of clerical or office support experience; experience in a hospital or unionized setting a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook); experience with HR or case management systems preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
