Lab Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in formulation development projects.
• Verify reactivity profile and physical testing properties to confirm correct formulations.
• Perform chemical testing on wet samples.
• Prepare polyurethane formulas on lab scale and mix samples.
• Operate titration equipment for Chemical properties of OH N%NCO H2O Blowing Agent)
• Record results in data base create spreadsheets and maintain records.
• Organize and maintain lab area including ordering supplies.
• Set up calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
• Prepare and update quality reports and work instructions.
• Report all discrepancies or conditions identified to be out of the normal operating condition to immediate supervisor.
• Participate in team problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
• Follow all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures.

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in Science (Chemistry preferred)
• 1-3 years of previous quality lab experience preferably in industrial setting
• Experience working with polymers- a plus.
• Experience working with lab equipment (Carl Fisher water titration device viscometer general lab equipment)
• Strong communication skills both written and oral.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

WORK REQUIREMENTS: Position is based on site in Rochester Hills MI. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position. Work hours are Mon-Fri 7am-3pm occasional Overtime possible.

While performing the duties of this job the employee might be exposed to moving mechanical parts toxic and non-toxic materials. The employee must not wear any loose-fitting clothing that may get in the way of the moving machinery. The employee must wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while working in their environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
