Summary:

Job Profile Summary
The Lab Technical Specialist supports the service area in both an operational and technical capacity and is responsible for duties fundamental to service area support and success including regulatory compliance technical processes personnel competency quality improvement and resource utilization. Under the leadership of the Manager this position exercises initiative and is delegated the authority to act in the best interest of the service area. The Lab Technical Specialist utilizes independent judgment in matters related to operations service delivery and technical oversight.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory accreditation and organizational standards through quality assurance activities related to testing equipment and processes.
  • Supports the Manager in developing implementing and monitoring service area goals quality metrics key performance indicators and operational initiatives to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Assists with the evaluation selection validation and implementation of equipment test methods and software.
  • Develops reviews implements maintains and promotes policies procedures and best practices.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots variances quality concerns and process issues; documents corrective actions and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supports staff orientation training competency assessment and ongoing professional development.
  • Manages assigned projects and prepares accurate timely reports analyses documentation and data summaries.
  • Serves as a technical and operational resource for laboratory staff providers and other customers.
  • Maintains accountability for service area operations and daily workflow coordination ensures efficient and effective operations independently and in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the operational and strategic needs of the department and organization.

  • Professional Licensure (MLS MT CLS) North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice Prior to Start Date HR Primary Sources
  • Professional Certification (MLS MT CLS) Multiple Issuers Prior to Start Date HR Primary Sources
  • Professional Licensure (MLT CLT) North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice Prior to Start Date HR Primary Sources
  • Professional Certification (MLT CLT) Multiple Issuers Prior to Start Date HR Primary Sources

Notes:
  • Must be licensed and certified as MLS or MLT
  • Acceptable certifying agencies: ASCP AAB AMT and NCA (Must certify in one)
  • Can be certified as MLS MT CLS BB categorical ASCP or SBB Categorial ASCP (Must be certified in one)
  • Meets CLIA qualifications for General Supervisor and can be formally delegated General Supervisor responsibilities by the Laboratory Director.
  • Employment verification conducted only for candidates with prior professional work experience.

Work Experience:

Preferred: A minimum of 5 years Related Experience

Language Requirements:

This position requires proficiency in reading writing and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients families and team members.
