CHC Addiction Services is a non-profit social service agency in the Akron area whose mission is to treat inspire support and empower individuals and families impacted by the disease of addiction.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lab Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory services. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient workflow maintaining quality standards supervising laboratory staff and supporting exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical laboratory knowledge and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory including specimen collection testing analysis troubleshooting staffing and supply inventory.
- Supervise laboratory personnel including Specimen Collectors the Team Lead and Medical Laboratory Technicians.
- Ensure laboratory services are performed accurately efficiently and in compliance with all applicable policies procedures and regulatory standards.
- Monitor staffing needs and provide coverage for staff absences as needed.
- Maintain adequate laboratory supplies and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
- Communicate effectively with internal providers departments and external referral sources regarding test requests results and laboratory services.
- Assist with problem-solving workflow improvements and quality initiatives.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to departmental planning and organizational goals.
- Foster a positive team-oriented work environment while supporting staff development and performance.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field as applicable.
- Current MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) or MLS/MT (Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist) certification.
- Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations quality assurance regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
