Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence college readiness and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.


AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team at the AMS Camelback campus for the school year.


The Kindergarten Teacher plays a critical role in helping scholars build strong foundational skills in literacy numeracy and social-emotional development. The ideal candidate will create a structured and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity confidence and a love for learning while ensuring students develop the academic skills needed for long-term success.


AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction strong classroom culture and data-informed teaching practices.


Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver rigorous standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
  • Build strong foundational skills in early literacy phonics writing and mathematics.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and student interventions.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
  • Implement engaging instructional strategies that promote student participation exploration and early critical thinking skills.

Classroom Culture & Student Development

  • Establish and maintain a structured positive and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Support students academic behavioral and social-emotional development.
  • Foster a classroom culture that promotes kindness responsibility and a love of learning.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
  • Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with AMS instructional priorities.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong homeschool partnerships.
  • Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or Early Childhood Education
    OR
  • Valid Arizona teaching certification in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education
    OR
  • Minimum of three (3) years of K12 teaching experience

Additionally candidates must:

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
  • Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
  • Demonstrate a data-driven approach to instruction and student support
  • Exhibit collaboration professionalism and initiative in a team-based environment
