Job Summary
Experienced Kennel Assistant
Warren Animal Hospital is seeking a reliable experienced Kennel Assistant for part-time coverage primarily Thursday through Sunday. Additional hours may be available during holidays school breaks and other busy boarding periods.
This is a variable-hour position with shifts scheduled according to our boarding census. Availability Thursday through Sunday does not necessarily mean four shifts will be scheduled every week. This position would be an excellent fit for someone with professional animal-care experience who is seeking supplemental hours and has flexibility during busier boarding periods.
Responsibilities include:
- Feeding walking and providing general care for boarding dogs and cats
- Safely handling dogs of various sizes and temperaments
- Cleaning and disinfecting kennels runs bowls and animal-care areas
- Completing laundry and maintaining an organized kennel area
- Following feeding medication and special-care instructions accurately
- Monitoring boarders and promptly reporting health or behavioral concerns
- Maintaining clear and accurate kennel records
- Working independently and completing all assigned responsibilities before leaving
Requirements:
- Previous professional kennel boarding shelter or veterinary experience is required; this is not an entry-level position
- Availability primarily Thursday through Sunday
- Dependable transportation and consistent punctual attendance
- Holiday and peak boarding availability
- Comfort working independently and safely handling large dogs
- Strong attention to cleanliness safety and detail
- Ability to perform the physical responsibilities of kennel work with or without reasonable accommodation
