Jr. Level Full-Stack AI Engineer

CGI is seeking a motivated and innovative Junior Full-Stack AI Engineer to join our growing AI engineering this role you will design develop and deploy scalable AI-powered applications using modern full-stack technologies machine learning and generative AI. You will contribute to the development of CGIs AI Platform building intelligent solutions that integrate backend services APIs large language models (LLMs) data pipelines and intuitive frontend experiences to solve real-world business challenges.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready AI solutions contribute to technical design decisions take ownership of assigned features and use cases and share knowledge with fellow engineers.
Location: This position may be based in any CGI office in the United States with Knoxville TN as the preferred location.

Design develop and deploy end-to-end AI-powered applications including backend services APIs data pipelines model integrations and user-facing interfaces

Build and maintain scalable secure and high-performance backend services using Python and develop responsive frontend applications using Angular

Implement and integrate generative AI large language models (LLMs) natural language processing (NLP) document classification optical character recognition (OCR) and conversational AI capabilities

Support machine learning model inference training fine-tuning and optimization to deliver reliable production-ready AI solutions

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs system integrations and database solutions that enable seamless communication across AI platform components

Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and scalable software delivery

Collaborate with product managers data scientists UI/UX designers and engineering teams to translate business requirements into innovative AI-driven features

Design and implement client-focused AI use cases leveraging CGIs AI Platform taking ownership of assigned features from development through deployment

Monitor troubleshoot and optimize application performance reliability security and scalability across development and production environments

Contribute to technical design discussions code reviews knowledge sharing and peer mentoring while promoting engineering best practices and continuous improvement

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Software Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience

02 years of hands-on experience in full-stack application development with proficiency in Python for backend development and Angular for frontend development

02 years of practical experience developing or contributing to AI-powered applications involving generative AI NLP document classification chatbots OCR or related intelligent automation capabilities including academic or project-based experience

Foundational understanding of machine learning LLM inference model integration and the software development practices required to build AI-enabled applications

Working knowledge of RESTful APIs system integration patterns and modern software engineering principles

Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes and their use in deploying and managing applications

Experience working with relational and non-relational databases including database design querying and performance optimization concepts

Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for application development deployment or AI workloads

Understanding of secure development practices data privacy principles regulatory considerations and responsible AI development

Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams adapt to emerging technologies and demonstrate ownership and accountability in a fast-paced environment

Desired qualifications / Strongly Preferred

Experience developing applications using LLM frameworks orchestration libraries or AI development tools such as LangChain Hugging Face or similar technologies

Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) vector databases embeddings prompt engineering or AI agent development

Exposure to model fine-tuning model evaluation MLOps practices or production AI model monitoring

Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing using tools such as GitHub Actions Azure DevOps or similar platforms

Experience building AI-powered solutions on cloud platforms particularly Microsoft Azure AI services or Google Cloud AI services

Demonstrated initiative through personal projects internships academic research or contributions to AI and full-stack software development initiatives

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set level experience relevant training and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62900.00 $110100.00.
