Job Summary

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Licensed Electrician to support the operation maintenance troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems within a commercial facility environment.

This role is responsible for maintaining electrical infrastructure performing preventive and corrective maintenance supporting system upgrades responding to service requests and ensuring all electrical work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical contracting background excellent troubleshooting skills experience working with CMMS or work order systems and the ability to work effectively with facility managers engineers HVAC technicians contractors and other skilled trades.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Repair
  • Install maintain troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring controls lighting systems switches circuit breakers resistors panels and other electrical distribution components.

  • Inspect repair and replace electrical equipment and components including:

    • Wiring

    • Fixtures

    • Insulated cables

    • Transformers

    • Circuit breakers

    • Electrical panels

    • Controls

    • Associated electrical devices

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems panels circuits and related equipment.

  • Inspect test diagnose and troubleshoot electrical system failures malfunctions and safety hazards.

  • Perform circuit breaker corrective maintenance.

  • Install or assist with the installation of:

    • Conduit

    • Wire

    • Cable

    • Electrical equipment

    • Controls

    • Components

    • Devices

  • Assist with annual infrared electrical inspections and scans.

  • Support electrical system upgrades repairs and facility improvement projects.

  • Maintain organized tools equipment and work areas in accordance with facility standards.

Code Compliance & Safety
  • Perform all electrical work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Follow applicable state and local electrical codes and building regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA standards.

  • Follow established site safety procedures and electrical safe-work practices.

  • Participate in required safety training.

  • Identify electrical hazards and take appropriate corrective action.

  • Promote a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance throughout all work activities.

CMMS & Documentation
  • Utilize CMMS or work order management systems to document maintenance activities and service requests.

  • Accurately record:

    • Repairs

    • Inspections

    • Preventive maintenance

    • Equipment issues

    • System modifications

    • Completed work orders

  • Maintain accurate documentation to support equipment history compliance and maintenance planning.

  • Prioritize and respond to work requests based on operational urgency and facility needs.

  • Utilize digital tools and available technology to improve troubleshooting diagnostics and maintenance efficiency.

Facility Systems Support
  • Apply electrical expertise to support broader facility operations.

  • Work with heating ventilation and air conditioning systems where electrical troubleshooting or support is required.

  • Coordinate with HVAC technicians engineers and other skilled trades when troubleshooting interconnected building systems.

  • Support Building Automation Systems and energy management systems where applicable.

  • Assist with energy efficiency and system optimization initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to improve electrical system reliability performance and efficiency.

Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Work closely with facility managers engineers HVAC technicians maintenance personnel contractors and other trades.

  • Provide electrical expertise to cross-functional maintenance and project teams.

  • Coordinate work to ensure projects and repairs are completed safely on time and within scope.

  • Build productive working relationships with vendors suppliers and external service providers.

  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members.

  • Support a collaborative environment focused on safety reliability and continuous improvement.

Customer & Client Service
  • Provide professional and responsive service to facility occupants managers and stakeholders.

  • Respond promptly to electrical service requests and facility concerns.

  • Clearly communicate system conditions repair requirements and expected completion timelines.

  • Explain technical electrical issues in understandable terms to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor during all customer and client interactions.

  • Proactively communicate regarding maintenance schedules equipment conditions and recommended improvements.

  • Address service concerns in a professional and solutions-focused manner.

Emergency & On-Call Support
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation as required.

  • Respond to after-hours electrical emergencies and critical building system issues.

  • Support urgent electrical repairs necessary to maintain safe and reliable facility operations.

  • Provide flexible support for changing operational priorities and critical service requests.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with special projects system upgrades and facility improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in technical training and continuous learning opportunities.

  • Remain current on evolving electrical technology building automation systems and industry best practices.

  • Support maintenance and operational initiatives outside of primary electrical duties when appropriate.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
  • Current Virginia Electrician License.

  • Successful completion of an electrician apprenticeship program.

  • 4 years of electrical contracting experience.

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Experience utilizing CMMS or work order management systems.

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory.

  • Ability to read and interpret:

    • Electrical drawings

    • Blueprints

    • Schematics

    • Wiring diagrams

    • Technical documentation

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Working knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to document work accurately and clearly explain technical issues.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and urgent service requests.

  • Ability to meet applicable client background screening and drug screening requirements.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand sit kneel bend climb and perform physical maintenance activities throughout the workday.

  • Ability to safely climb stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to perform hands-on electrical maintenance in a commercial facility environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a client-facing facilities maintenance environment.

  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS).

  • Experience with energy management platforms.

  • Experience supporting commercial or industrial facility operations.

  • Experience collaborating with HVAC mechanical and facilities teams.

  • Experience with advanced digital diagnostic or monitoring tools.

  • Demonstrated history of providing high-quality customer service in a technical role.
