The Opportunity
The Field Technology Specialist is an IT professional responsible for coordinating and executing the mobilization deployment support and lifecycle management of IT equipment and infrastructure across construction site locations. Based in the DFW office and traveling extensively to active and new project sites this role ensures construction teams have reliable properly configured technology from site startup through ongoing operations. The position serves as the primary liaison among the internal IT Help Desk team construction stakeholders local contractors equipment providers and other vendors while managing field technology assets vendor relationships service contracts issue resolution and status communication.
What you will do
Site Mobilization & Technology Readiness
Lead the mobilization and demobilization of IT equipment and technology services for new active and closing construction sites.
Assess site technology requirements and coordinate the setup configuration testing and readiness of computers monitors printers networking equipment connectivity solutions phones conference room technology and related accessories.
Travel to construction sites to complete installations resolve escalated issues verify infrastructure readiness and provide hands-on technical support when remote or local support is not sufficient.
Develop and maintain site technology checklists equipment standards support documentation and repeatable mobilization procedures.
Field Technology Support & Issue Resolution
Serve as the primary field services point of contact for construction teams providing timely status updates communicating risks or delays and coordinating solutions with internal IT resources and external partners.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware software connectivity peripheral access and end-user technology issues across field locations.
Partner with network infrastructure security applications and Help Desk teams to diagnose issues implement standards and escalate problems requiring specialized support.
When not traveling work from the DFW office as part of the Help Desk team supporting users handling escalated service requests assisting with equipment preparation and contributing to broader IT support priorities.
Asset Vendor & Contract Management
Maintain accountability for IT assets assigned to construction sites including deployment records inventory accuracy transfers replacements returns secure storage and disposition coordination.
Engage and coordinate qualified local contractors and vendors when on-site support is required providing clear scopes of work scheduling services monitoring progress and validating completion.
Manage vendor relationships and support IT equipment and service contracts including obtaining quotes coordinating purchases or rentals monitoring service delivery reviewing invoices and addressing performance concerns.
Maintain vendor contacts service records asset documentation and contract-related information needed to support field operations.
Operational Improvement & Leadership
Identify recurring field technology issues and recommend improvements to equipment standards deployment practices vendor coverage support processes and construction site readiness.
Provide day-to-day guidance and functional leadership for field technology activities and help establish a scalable field services capability that may support future team growth.
Coordinate priorities across multiple construction site locations while maintaining clear communication timely follow-through and alignment with broader IT support objectives.
Perform other duties and technology initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in IT support desktop support field services infrastructure support or a related technical role.
- Experience coordinating technology deployment or support across multiple locations.
- Experience working directly with vendors contractors or third-party service providers
- Progressive experience in IT support desktop support field services infrastructure support or a related technical role including experience resolving issues beyond entry-level Help Desk support.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Valid drivers license and ability to meet company travel requirements.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A Network Microsoft ITIL or equivalent are preferred.
- Hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting end-user devices peripherals network connectivity printers telecommunications and common workplace technology.
- Experience coordinating vendors contractors equipment providers or third-party technical services across multiple locations.
- Experience with IT asset management inventory control equipment lifecycle processes and documentation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Windows operating systems endpoint hardware ticketing systems remote support tools and basic networking concepts.
- Ability and willingness to work primarily from the DFW office when not traveling and to travel approximately 70% to construction site locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting remote field-based construction industrial or distributed work environments preferred.
- Contract administration purchasing quote review or vendor performance management experience preferred.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A Network Microsoft ITIL or equivalent are preferred.
