Universal Services is the enterprise IT solutions center for the departments and offices of Harris County providing Information Technology Public Safety and Justice Technologies 311 Constituent Engagement Services Fleet Services and Records and Information Governance Services.

The IT Asset Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining an accurate inventory of all IT assets within the organization. This role involves tracking hardware and software assets ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and supporting procurement and deployment processes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills attention to detail and a good understanding of IT infrastructure and asset management best practices.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the organizations IT asset inventory database with accurate information on hardware software licenses and warranties.

  • Monitor IT asset lifecycle including acquisition deployment maintenance and disposal.

  • Collaborate with procurement IT operations and finance teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance of IT assets.

  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of IT assets to identify discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.

  • Track software license usage and ensure compliance with vendor agreements and corporate policies.

  • Support IT asset-related reporting and provide insights for budget planning and cost control.

  • Assist in the implementation and improvement of IT asset management tools and processes.

  • Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries regarding asset status availability and lifecycle.

  • Ensure proper tagging and classification of assets for easy identification and tracking.

  • Help coordinate IT asset disposal and recycling following company and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

Education:

  • GED/High School Diploma

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

  • Basic understanding of IT hardware software and licensing concepts.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Automatic Disqualification:

  • Convictions probation or deferred adjudication for any Felony and any Class A Misdemeanor
  • Convictions probation or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor if within the previous 10 years
  • Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor)
  • Family Violence conviction

Preferences

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree

Experience:

  • 3-5 years in IT asset management or related roles is highly desirable.

  • 5 years of IT asset management experience

  • Familiarity with IT asset management software/tools (e.g. ServiceNow Ivanti Freshservice) is a plus.
