Role Summary
At Overland AI we believe the hardest problems demand exceptional teams. Were excited to offer software engineering internship opportunities for the Summer of 2027. As an intern you will tackle real open-ended problems that directly contribute to our mission of building autonomous systems for the most challenging environments. Working closely with a mentor and our engineering team you will apply your knowledge and grow your skills through high-impact projects.
You must be ready to stay focused move fast self-direct and learn on the fly. Software internships are available across the company within different teams such as Mission Autonomy Perception & Machine Learning Platforms Behaviors and Planning C2 and Interfaces.
Please note: these roles require you to work onsite at our Seattle location.
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science computer engineering electrical engineering robotics or a similar STEM field
- Project-level experience with Python C or Rust
- Exceptional command of engineering fundamentals
- Hands-on engineering experience through internships personal projects work or teams
- Ability to manage a complex technical project and take it through execution
- Ability to learn and apply state-of-the-art techniques to technical projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Able to work full-time onsite for a minimum of 1014 consecutive weeks
Various Teams:
Mission Autonomy - Builds the core autonomous mission execution capabilities that enable ground vehicles to independently navigate adapt and complete objectives in complex off-road environments without direct operator control.
Perception/ML - Develops the machine learning models and sensor processing pipelines that allow vehicles to understand and interpret terrain obstacles and their surroundings in real time.
Platforms - Owns the foundational software infrastructure developer tooling and systems that power the OverDrive autonomy stack and enable other engineering teams to build and deploy reliably.
Behaviors and Planning - Designs the decision-making and path planning algorithms that determine how vehicles navigate terrain react to dynamic conditions and execute tactical maneuvers.
C2 and Interfaces - Creates the intuitive OverWatch command-and-control interface that gives operators and commanders real-time situational awareness and precise coordination of autonomous vehicles.

Pay Range(s)
- Freshman/Sophomore: $28.00/hour
- Junior/Senior: $33.00/hour
- Completed Bachelors: $35.00/hour
- Completed Masters: $40.00/hour
Your pay will be determined by academic level. You may also be eligible for relocation support.
