Job Summary
DMPS is seeking a coordinator for international exchange programs specifically supporting our exchange partnership with Kofu Japan. Prior experience supporting exchange programs is strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:Bachelors degree
- Work Experience:Current DMPS employee
- Licensure or Certification:Valid Iowa teaching license (appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment).
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to collaborateeffectively with a diverse workforce and student population.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis including days evenings weekends and summer when necessary.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for coordinating the sister-city exchange between the Des Moines Public Schools and the Kofu Japan
Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain relationship with local and Kofu Japan Board of Education departments.
- Foster aspects of the cultural proficiency framework and determine opportunities to facilitate in real-world scenarios with students and staff of Des Moines.
- Increase international relations with the city of Des Moines and Kofu Japan especially between the mayors office of each city.
- Represent the Des Moines Public Schools effectively in the community state national and world.
- Serve as designated delegate for all Kofu Japan teachers administrators and community members traveling to Des Moines throughout the school year.
- Specific tasks to accomplish these essential functions will be provided in separatedocument.
- Collaborate and build community relationships to gain involvement in Kofu Exchange events
