PURPOSE: The Technical Training Intern supports programs that prepare employees for complex utility work safely and effectively. Working with Learning & Development staff craft employees technical experts and leaders the intern will develop learning content coordinate training maintain records support Workday Learning and gain firsthand exposure to the people and systems that keep electricity flowing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Technical Training and Apprenticeship Support
- Support technical training and apprenticeship programs by reviewing apprentice files training records documentation course completions signatures and milestone tracking for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain apprenticeship schedules requirements forms contact lists and technical training resources in organized shared locations including SharePoint so information is accurate and accessible.
- Assist with apprenticeship onboarding progress meetings field visits technical training and follow-up to support progression from new learner to qualified professional.
- Maintain apprenticeship and technical training records in Workday Learning and related systems including attendance completions learning transcripts and supporting documentation.
- Prepare clear participant communications materials attendance records evaluations facilitator resources and follow-up documents that support a consistent learner experience.
Learning Content and Instructional Design Support
- Partner with Learning and Development staff and subject matter experts to turn field experience into clear training content job aids presentations and participant resources.
- Assist with creating or revising learning content using basic instructional design and adult learning principles so employees build the knowledge skills and confidence to work safely and effectively.
- Use learning-development tools such as Microsoft 365 iSpring Synthesia Workday Learning and other approved systems to support course development and delivery.
- Review organize and recommend internal or third-party learning content based on learning objectives audience needs content accuracy accessibility and course quality.
Learning Systems Coordination and Administrative Support
- Create update and test courses course offerings learning content instructions and learner communications in Workday Learning using established procedures.
- Coordinate training logistics including registration calendars room or virtual meeting setup materials supplies attendance post-session follow-up and related administrative support.
- Respond to routine employee questions about learning resources course access registration assigned learning or transcripts and refer more complex issues to appropriate Learning and Development staff.
- Research assigned learning topics participate in team and project discussions ask thoughtful questions and recommend practical ways to improve employee engagement and technical training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience: Currently enrolled in an accredited college university or technical college. Pursuing an associate bachelors or graduate degree in instructional design education adult learning human resources organizational development business psychology communications educational technology or a related field. Previous internship or professional experience is not required. Preferred experience may come from coursework volunteering or academic projects involving:
- Instructional design curriculum development training or education.
- Communications or digital content creation.
- Data management or event coordination.
- Technical or skilled-trade education and apprenticeship programs.
- Leadership development student organizations workshops or group learning activities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Genuine interest in helping people learn grow and succeed through technical training adult education instructional design or learning technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate recordkeeping.
- Ability to organize schedules course information learning materials electronic files and project tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems follow documented procedures and manage assignments with appropriate guidance.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook or the ability to learn these applications.

- Ability to create clear professional and visually consistent materials.
- Customer-service mindset and ability to work professionally with apprentices craft employees engineers technical experts and leaders.
