Position Overview

The job of an Audio/Visual Senior Engineer was established for the purpose/s of leading and managing all A/V operations through the district. This position is responsible for supervising a dedicated A/V team overseeing and participating in the installation and maintenance of all district-wide A/V systems and coordinating directly with stakeholders contractors and vendors to support high-quality media integration in educational environments. This position is relied upon to manage and complete the senior engineer lead engineer engineer least technician and essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the A/V group (currently 12 personnel)
  • Manage the installation updating purchasing and inventory of all Newlines in the district (currently 1900)
  • Design and manage sophisticated digital signage systems throughout the district (currently 270 devices)
  • Design and manage all media player systems including hardware (Apple TVs and BrightSigns) and the Carousel software (currently 270 devices)
  • Research negotiate pricing assist in purchasing manage install and maintain video walls (currently 45)
  • Research and manage marquees
  • Design live camera (HUDL) systems in gyms and stadiums
  • Research and design basic and sophisticated classroom A/V solutions
  • Manage technology for portable moves
  • Design A/V systems for common areas including gyms stages lunchrooms and training rooms.
  • Management Communication Purchasing and Training Tasks:
    • Work with vendors to ensure competitive pricing on all A/V technology
    • Tier 3 support for User Support Specialists and Lead Techs
    • Manage the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) in order to return defective products and arrange for replacement items.
    • Work with Directors to advise on and design A/V in new buildings and remodeled areas.
    • Work directly with contractors subcontractors architects and vendors for A/V in new buildings and remodeled areas.
    • Support Directors Administrators Coordinators Lead Technicians and User Support Specialists after hours.
    • Coordinate all A/V installs with Facilities
    • Negotiate pricing at least yearly with all A/V vendors
  • Install Newlines and manage Newline updates and inventory
  • Install and manage basic signage devices and systems
  • Manage live camera (HUDL) systems in gyms and stadiums
  • Maintain marquees
  • Install and manage basic classroom A/V systems including soundbars amps and tuners
  • Management Communication and Training Tasks:
    • Order parts for inventory and keep track of stock.
    • Work with Wire and Data contractors (currently Dotcomm and Sorensen) on installations (HDMI Data USB)
  • Management Communication and Training Tasks:
    • Schedule and prioritize installations and tickets for the A/V group
    • Provide Tier 2 support for User Support Specialists and Lead Techs
    • Train User Support Specialists and Lead Technicians on all A/V systems
    • Communicate daily with Administrators and User Support Specialists
  • Troubleshoot and manage troubleshooting of all A/V issues in classrooms and common areas.
  • Related tasks as assigned.
  • Essential Functions for all A/V team members:
    • Manage and prioritize daily tasks and tickets
    • Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities;
    • Must be familiar with general contracting processes
    • Must meet deadlines and schedules.
    • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. to a height of 36 inches and frequently up to 25 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
    • Must attend meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
    • Ability to coordinate with others for the purpose of completing projects efficiently.
    • Transport various items (e.g. tools equipment supplies etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
Work Attendance and Reliability:
  • Regular punctual and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Consistent presence is required to meet project deadlines support scheduled installations respond to infrastructure issues and coordinate with technical staff and school-site personnel.

Other Functions:

  • Assist other Technology Services personnel as needed to support department operations.
  • Participate in department meetings training and professional development.
  • Maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities
  • Extensive experience in audio/visual system installation integration and support.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent installations and troubleshoot complex systems
  • Effective communication and training skills
  • Experience working with A/V vendors purchasing departments and technical contractors
Qualifications
  • At least 15 years of experience in the educational A/V setting is preferred.
