Full time 182 day school year position

KIEA Union 7 hours per day

BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Welding Technology Instructor shall deliver the State of Michigan Curriculum as regulated by the Office of Career and Technical Education to students in the Welding Technology program for Kent ISD in classrooms and labs located at KCTC. The instructor will provide students with hands-on industry-aligned learning experiences that prepare them for post-secondary education industry certifications and careers within the welding and manufacturing fields.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate (OEC) Professional CTE Certificate or State-approved equivalent credential in Welding Brazing and Soldering (CIP Code 48.0508) OR
  2. Minimum of two years or 4000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the welding field (documented and verified within the last 10 years) and an associate degree.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and experience with modern welding technology welding processes and robotic welding equipment.
  • Ability to design implement and deliver curriculum aligned to Michigan CTE standards.
  • Ability to utilize project-based learning online learning platforms and technology-based instructional tools to support student learning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with business and industry to support work-based learning.
  • Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates regular predictable and dependable attendance and written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  1. Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  2. One or more AWS certifications.
  3. Experience working with high school students and diverse student populations.
  4. Experience with manufacturing machining CNC and/or construction-related industries.
  5. Extensive industry experience in welding processes and applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging rigorous instruction through classroom lab and project-based learning experiences aligned with Michigan CTE standards.
  2. Integrate current welding equipment technology and industry practices into instruction.
  3. Develop and maintain partnerships with business and industry to support internships field trips guest speakers demonstrations and other work-based learning opportunities.
  4. Facilitate an active Welding Program Advisory Committee to ensure curriculum remains aligned with industry needs.
  5. Assess student learning maintain accurate attendance and student records and communicate student progress with families.
  6. Maintain a safe organized and effective classroom and lab environment that reflects current industry standards.
  7. Support students in preparing for post-secondary education industry certifications and careers in welding and related fields.
  8. Monitor program equipment supplies and budget needs to support effective instruction.
  9. Integrate technology online learning platforms and industry resources to enhance student learning.
  10. Participate in professional development and remain current with CTE reporting requirements instructional practices and welding industry trends.
  11. Promote the Welding Technology program and Kent Career Tech Center.
  12. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of all learners through equitable and inclusive instructional practices.
  13. Comply with Kent ISD and local district policies as well as all applicable state and federal laws.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Placement on the BA scale is required unless candidate holds a valid State of Michigan Standard CTE teaching certificate.(BA Step 1-5 $54386-$66347/year).(Steps 6 commensurate with academic degree and experience as defined by the Master Agreement).

  • Placement on BA18 MA or MA lanes is considered after receipt of a valid State of Michigan Standard CTE teaching certificate per Master Agreement.
  • Placement on the salary scale will be commensurate with an applicants academic degree and the number of years experience in a particular specialization or in an approved related field per Master Agreement
