The Applied Construction Technology Instructor shall deliver the State of Michigan Curriculum as regulated by the Office of Career and Technical Education to students in the Applied Construction Technology program for Kent ISD in classrooms and labs located at KCTC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree is required.
One of the following:
A valid Michigan teaching certificate with a CTE endorsement in one of the following CIP Codes from the Architecture and Construction Cluster: 04.0900 17.0500 17.1000 17.1001 17.1004 17.1008 17.1010 17.1700 17.1800 20.0601 46.0000 46.0401 46.0991.- OR -
Requisite experience to qualify for Annual Career Authorization Minimum of two years or 4000 hours (documented and verified within the last 10 years) of recent and relevant work experience in the Construction Trades Industry.
Valid Michigan Builders License.
Demonstrated ability to design implement and deliver curriculum aligned to Michigan CTE standards.
Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication across diverse audiences.
Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with business and industry to support work-based learning.
Works effectively with colleagues and contributes positively to team goals.
Demonstrates regular predictable and dependable attendance.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Minimum of six (6) years of construction trades industry experience.
Experience working with high school students and diverse student populations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging rigorous instruction through classroom lab and project-based learningexperiences.
Integrate current construction equipment tools and industry technology into instruction.
Develop and maintain partnerships to support internships field trips guest speakersdemonstrations and other work-based learning opportunities.
Facilitate an active Program Advisory Committee to ensure curriculum remains alignedwith industry needs.
Assess student learning maintain accurate attendance and student records andcommunicate student progress with families.
Maintain a safe organized and effective classroom and lab environment.
Support students in preparing for post-secondary education and careers in theconstruction trades.
Participate in professional development and remain current with CTE reportingrequirements instructional practices and industry trends.
Promote the Applied Construction Technology program and Kent Career Tech Center.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of all learners through equitable andinclusive instructional practices.
Comply with Kent ISD and local district policies as well as all applicable state and federallaws.

Placement on the BA scale is required unless candidate holds a valid State of Michigan Standard CTE teaching certificate.(BA Step 1-5 $54386-$66347/year).(Steps 6 commensurate with academic degree and experience as defined by the Master Agreement).
Placement on BA18 MA or MA lanes is considered after receipt of a valid State of Michigan Standard CTE teaching certificate per Master Agreement.
Placement on the salary scale will be commensurate with an applicants academic degree and the number of years experience in a particular specialization or in an approved related field per Master Agreement
