Inspector - Maintenance Engineering & Inspection

ICE is adding a MEI Inspector/Engineer to our growing team in Florida.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the inspection of maintenance and/or construction projects.
EDUCATION
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Or a Civil Engineering degree with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year. (Engineer Intern classification requires E.I.T. certificate.)
EXPERIENCE:
For personnel with engineering engineering technology and construction management degrees:
- One (1) year of CEI/MEI experience in construction of roadway or bridge structures
For personnel without engineering engineering technology or construction management degrees:
- Two (2) years of CEI/MEI experience in roadway or bridge construction
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have the following as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment on the project at the time of NTP:
- FDOT Advanced MOT
- CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
- CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
o Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures lighting structures and traffic signal structure foundations
- CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- Nuclear Radiation Safety
- Or a Civil Engineering degree with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year. (Note: Engineer Intern classification requires E.I.T. certificate.)
- Valid Drivers licensewith safe driving record
- US Resident or Green Card Holder only
ABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
- Responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties. Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
- Civil Engineering graduates must obtain certifications within the first year of working as an inspector or Engineer Intern.
- Responsible for familiarity with the Departments Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.
- Responsible for exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the project
- Responsible for performing complex assignments in field surveying and construction layout marking and checking engineering computations inspecting construction work and conducting field tests.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis. The inspector must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels high dust and dirt and extreme temperature. The inspector must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position will be a full-time position. The inspector may be required to work some nights and weekends based on the project construction schedule. Inspectors will be eligible for preapproved overtime at time and a half.
