Build your career with Sydney Trains as an Infrastructure Worker Traction joining a skilled and supportive team that keeps one of Australias busiest rail networks moving safely and reliably.

Due to growth within our Traction team we have four new opportunities based at Clyde. These are project-based roles working across the Sydney Trains network giving you the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects throughout metropolitan Sydney the Western regions Newcastle and Wollongong. Youll join a well-established team where strong working relationships shared knowledge and a genuine commitment to each others safety underpin how we work creating an environment where people support one another and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.

Our Traction Construction team delivers major infrastructure projects across the Sydney Trains network constructing renewing and upgrading the overhead wiring and high voltage electrical systems that power rail services across New South Wales. Were looking for experienced lineworkers who know their trade and enjoy the construction lifestyle working in diverse environments alongside highly skilled crews to deliver challenging and complex projects safely and to a high standard. From metropolitan Sydney to regional NSW youll help build critical rail infrastructure that will support the network for decades to come providing the satisfaction of seeing the lasting impact of the work you deliver.

Your home base will be Clyde so while you can live anywhere from the Wollongong region through to Newcastle youll need to be willing and able to travel to Clyde as required.

If youre currently working as a Lineworker Overhead Lineperson (OHL) Power Line Worker or in electrical distribution your skills could open the door to an exciting new career in rail. You dont need to have spent your career working on the rail network were interested in the transferable skills and experience you can bring.

Youll be involved in constructing renewing and upgrading Sydney Trains overhead traction power network including 1500V DC traction systems and high and low voltage AC aerial lines contributing to major rail infrastructure projects across New South Wales.

About you

Safety comes first for you. You have a high level of safety awareness look out for the people around you and consistently role model safe working behaviours.

You bring strong attention to detail practical problem-solving skills and solid technical knowledge from working with overhead electrical infrastructure. Youre comfortable working at heights and enjoy being part of a hands-on team environment.

You have an understanding and proficiency in overhead line construction associated accessories plant and equipment and can confidently read and interpret plans and specifications.

Youre also someone who wants to keep learning. You adapt well to change are open to new technology and enjoy sharing your knowledge while learning from others.

You hold a Certificate III in Distribution Overhead or ESI Rail Traction along with experience working in a construction or maintenance environment.

You also hold a current full NSW Class C drivers licence and are comfortable driving large vehicles and/or utes.

These are shift-based roles operating in a 24/7 rail environment. As part of supporting our network and delivering project work youll need to be available for night shift weekend work overtime and on-call requirements as well as living away from home when required.
